Source: AP

CAIRO — A senior Arab League official says Arab countries have not delivered any of the more than $1 billion they pledged to rebuild Gaza after Israel's devastating offensive.

The official says the money pledged in mid-January has been held up because of disagreements between rival Palestinian groups Fatah and Hamas about who should receive donations.

He says Arab countries are waiting to see whether a solution to the disagreement is reached at an international meeting on Gaza reconstruction in Egypt on Monday.

The official spoke on condition of anonymity Saturday because he was not authorized to talk to the media....

17. My reaction exactly
Lots of funds available to pay suicide bombers. Rebuilding? They don't want anything rebuilt. They don't want anything that eliminates their convenient distraction.

I can understand Algeria having a hard time coming up with the money. But Qatar and Saudi Arabia?

Maybe times are much tougher then we thought.

Hopefully the reconstruction conference will give them all a chance to figure things out.

Or that Saudi Arabia and Qatar just not give a dam about helping their "brothers and sisters" in Gaza?

Why just nok split the 1B tag in two.. one to Fatah and one to Hamas.. Problem solved..

Or, is it that they just do not care about the palestinians, and are just so happy that the West is paying up everything - again.

13. How much is Israel pledging?
It would seem that they may have had a role in all of this?

And if they do pay, does that mean the US taxpayers pay?

15. How much are the Arabs pledging to Israel
For the damage and lives lost by the constant missles coming from Lebanon and Gaza, and for the years of suicide bombings causing destruction and death. I know that someone would blame Israel for the other Arabs lake of true concern for the Palestinians.

20. Why would the Arabs pay Israel when we the taxpayers pay them?
Israel is much more murderous than the Arabs in Palestine or Lebanon.

18. At my age, I remember vividly the last 3 of the 4 Arab-Israeli wars.
No great surprise here: it's what they've always done vis a vis their 'Palestinian brothers'.
