Heinz Recalls Pesto Sauce With Labels That Don't List Nuts Among Ingredien
PITTSBURGH (AP) - H.J. Heinz Co. is recalling tens of thousands of jars of Classico brand pesto sauce because the label does not list pine nuts as an ingredient.
People with an allergy to nuts could suffer a life-threatening reaction if they ate the sauce.

Several thousand cases of the sauce were made over a two-day period in December and were probably distributed nationally, Heinz said Friday.

1. Nope - the Heinz family no longer owns that
the makers of Campbell's soup do.

Happy now?

4. Years ago, they made a big mistake.
Labels for Heinz Vegetarian Beans (which are kosher) were placed on Heinz Pork 'n Beans. There was an uproar among Jews who keep kosher.

5. but pine nuts are required in pesto
its one of the main ingredients besides basil.

as a person that reads labels psychotically for animal ingredients, i have to take a lot of things on faith from food companies.

but i know that certain foods are going to have animal products so i just stay away.

anyone with a severe nut allergy should probably not even eat pre-made pesto sauce (even if it is without pinenuts) because it is probably processed on the same machinery as the pinenut pesto and that could be enough to cause a reaction.
