Florida Plan has poll workers decide voter disability
Plan has poll workers decide voter disability

Posted February 20 2004

Poll workers would take on one more task under a proposed new law. They would determine which voters were disabled enough to bypass long lines on Election Day.

State Rep. Irv Slosberg, D-Boca Raton, is working on a bill giving disabled voters preference at the polls. One voting machine at each precinct would be designated for handicapped or frail voters, relieving them from having to wait, Slosberg said.

The privilege would go to anyone using a walking device as common as a cane, not just those with handicapped-parking placards that must be obtained through a physician. Poll workers would decide who was disabled enough to qualify...."

"...But elections officials are uncomfortable with asking poll workers, who have no medical training, to assess a person's physical condition without even a note from the voter's doctor.

"I can't imagine many of them wanting to do that," said Theresa LePore, Palm Beach County supervisor of elections...."

They are trying to find a way to let the disabled have their votes stolen first!!
That Terry LeWhore is such a sweetheart! :puke:
Oops! My mistake! That idiot doesn't think poll workers are bright enough to see if some one is about to fall over from waiting in line. They are extremely qualified to run a electronic election though, and watch out for fraud...
