Islam was an illegal religion because the Koran preached violence against Christians and Jews, a Christian group told a judge yesterday.

The group's barrister, David Perkins, said that Christianity was established under Australia's constitution and had special protection, especially through the blasphemy law.

Mr Perkins told the Victorian and Civil Administrative Tribunal that if the state's new religious hatred law intended to fetter the teaching of Christian doctrine it was invalid.

"The Koran contradicts Christian doctrine in a number of places and, under the blasphemy law, is therefore illegal," he said.

The Quran is very much based on Judeo-Christian theology. And the suras also speak of living in harmony with "the people of the book".

So it's not really built in, it just mentions God. This is (IMHO) the same as arguing the US is a christian nation becuase of "in God we trust"

As George Carlin said: "God is the leading cause of death in the Bible!" The Old Testament said to kill:

-gays
-heathens/pagans/witches/anyone who doesn't worship "your" God
-adulterers
-unruly slaves and children
-all males of a conquered nation, even male children (the women were to be sold into slavery, lucky them)
-those who break the 10 Commandments, even those who simply work on Sunday

Seems there was a whole lot of violence being preached by Christians too, if I'm recalling my Bible study correctly.

Only semi-auto firearms and handguns are. Pump shotguns, deer rifles, lever action rifles, etc are still very legal.

Also, hasn't Australia's crime rates gone UP since that ban?
