RightMarch Reacts to MoveOn's Push to Censure Bush
SPARTANBURG, SC (Talon News) -- In response to last week's petition by liberal online political group MoveOn.org to censure President George W. Bush, RightMarch.com is taking out full-page ads in Washington, DC newspapers urging members of Congress to disregard this movement from the radical left.

snip

RightMarch.com says Bush-bashing groups like MoveOn.org working in tandem with the Democratic Party have repeatedly claimed that Bush purposefully "misled the American people and the Congress" to justify going to war with Iraq. MoveOn.org is even telling Congress that Bush knew there were no weapons of mass destruction and that Iraq was not an imminent danger to the United States.

However, RightMarch cites a recent Washington Times report that found Iraq possessed stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons; it was reconstituting its nuclear-bomb research; it was producing missiles beyond the range allowed by U.N. resolutions; and its research continued into chemical and biological agents.

"President Bush was right!" RightMarch.com exclaimed.

2. So move on is a "radical group"?
Funny how any Democratic or Progressive website, even one with 300,000 plus members is somehow a radical fringe leftist group to these people.

:hi: :grouphug: So glad you found us!

It gets crazy here -- sometimes downright infuriating -- but the information and energy here is incomparable! We're a diverse group, with lots of different STRONGLY held opinions -- but the thing to remember is that no one opinion is necessarily any more worthy than any other.

Hope you enjoy your time here, and find it edifying and educational!

Best wishes,
sw

18. Thank you so much!
I'm crying at my computer now...

I worked for the Clinton campaign here in 1992 because I was so afraid of the "Bush Machine" and their right wing agenda. Of course we lost in NC anyway by a couple of thousand votes but at least it didn't matter cause he won anyway!

I haven't been as active since, mainly due to divorce and finances...but also due to feeling disgusted with the whole process.

Almost voted for Nader last time, but voted for Gore (not that it mattered in this state). Then the depression set in.

I liked Dean....but now I don't know what to do.

Except give them all hell for this shambles they've created!

48. I wouldn't doubt it...
Just like the meetups for Dean they brought out people that were never active before. Letting the people know about the forums available to participate is important.

Everyone here should be involved in their local Democratic Party.

In addition, everyone should invite all those of like minds or show interest to attend local Democratic Party events. Arrange for social functions that will be entertaining as well as educational.

Check out "99 Ways to Make a Difference".

I'm glad they are "Leading the virtual march from the right!"

50. This is who they say they are and their goal.
RightMarch.com is an umbrella website for many conservative organizations, as well as thousands of hardworking, patriotic Americans across the country. Our goal is to counter the well-financed antics of radical left-wing groups like MoveOn.org, by appealing to the grassroots "silent majority" to take action -- contacting government and business leaders; placing newspaper, radio and television ads; and holding the Left accountable for their anti-American antics.

They operate out of Buford, GA

31. I have a question about censure.....
From what I understand, the House has no framework for censuring a president. I think the Senate has a method for this though. How would it work to get the censure through the House?

32. Interesting question
Interesting question, but a quick Google search doesn't really provide many solid answers. It appears that the House only has formal rules for censuring its own members (source: http://216.239.41.104/search?q=cache:ZhbZtZjTyx8J:www.house.gov/rules/rl31382.pdf+house+censure&hl=en&ie=UTF-8).

But I also turned up some interesting articles from the Witch Hunt of 1998 which suggest the House could theoretically censure the President--there's nothing in the Constitution prohibiting such an action:

Is censure a constitutional possibility?
By Charles Bierbauer/CNN
December 18, 1998
Web posted at: 3:04 p.m. EST (2004 GMT)

WASHINGTON (December 18, 1998) -- House Democrats continue to push for a censure of President Bill Clinton rather than impeachment, but the question remains, can the House of Representatives censure a president?

<snip>

Some say yes. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas), a member of the House Judiciary Committee, has argued for censure saying, "There is no prohibition on censure in the Constitution."

Some say no. House Speaker-elect Bob Livingston (R-Louisiana) said, "The only way the Constitution envisions for him to face the charges is to face articles of impeachment which would be tried by the Senate."

<snip>

The word censure is nowhere to be found in the Constitution. The closest it comes is Article I, Section 5, which says, " Each House may determine the Rules of its Proceedings, punish its Members for disorderly Behavior, and, with the Concurrence of two thirds, expel a Member."

In the past, the Constitution has not kept either House from finding the words to criticize a president.

Andrew Jackson faced a Senate censure over bank charters in 1836. John Tyler received a House rebuke for excessive use of Veto powers in 1842. James Polk faced a House chastisement for starting the war with Mexico in 1848 and James Buchanan received a House reproof over Navy contracts in 1860.

In 1864, even Abraham Lincoln was condemned by the Senate for allowing a congressman to hold an Army commission.

http://www.cnn.com/ALLPOLITICS/stories/1998/12/18/censure.bierbauer/

I will go looking for more info.

37. let's take it to 'em, don't denounce the messenger, necessarily, but
let them know they are WRONG.

Bush went to war on an idealogical premise, that Saddam's fall would create a domino effect of some sort of democracy in the Middle East. That premise looks increasingly flawed.

Bush did not go to war in Iraq to bring the 9/11 perps to justice. Saddam did not attack the WTC or the Pentagon.

Bush has repeatedly changed the rationalization for the Iraq attack, as one after another has failed the "truth" test.

Bush has repeatedly changed the markers for "success" in the Iraq attack, as real world events have implied "failure".

Bush had no plan for post Saddam Iraq.

Bush did NOT provide Congress with all the source intel applied in the decision to attack Iraq, there was a rogue intelligence operation which worked outside of Congressional review (mention OPS).
