Scientists: Bush Distorts Science
The Bush administration has distorted scientific fact leading to policy decisions on the environment, health, biomedical research and nuclear weaponry, a group of about 60 scientists, including 20 Nobel laureates, said in a statement on Wednesday.

wouldn't want science getting in the way of the corporate agenda!

Now would we?

I suppose I should indicate that that was meant sarcastically...

I got this from MoveOn today and I'm going, got any advice?
The mercury hearing in Raleigh will be on Wednesday, February 25th. Our apologies for any confusion.

-----

Dear MoveOn member,

The Environmental Protection Agency has just proposed weakening our safeguards against mercury pollution from coal-fired power plants. This is alarming -- mercury is extremely toxic to children. The EPA itself reports that 630,000 infants are born annually who are at risk for learning disabilities.

Instead of protecting mothers and children from mercury poisoning, the Bush administration has chosen once again to do a favor for its friends in the energy industry. The EPA proposal is so weak that the industry will be allowed to continue polluting without using state-of-the-art mercury controls.

Next week, the EPA is holding a public hearing on this issue in Raleigh-Durham. We need to show up in person at this forum to remind the EPA that their job is to protect our children from pollution, rather than protecting President Bush‚s campaign contributors. The hearing will be held next Wednesday, February 25th from 8 AM to 10 PM.

Can you help? The event will be held at :

Holiday Inn Raleigh-Durham Airport
4810 Old Page Road, Research Triangle Park

Please arrive at 8 AM if possible; stay as late as you like.

Thanks for the welcome, I didn't see it at first!

7. Bush vs. Science
Sounds like rematches of the already fought Hitler vs. Science (that was a close one!) and Stalin vs. Science (though stuff like Lysenkoism was more comical than scary...the Soviet analog of Creationism)

Yeah Creationism is Lysenkoism for the fundies.

10. I was wondering what happened to the other 7% of homosexuals...
I used to hear 10% of the population...then this marriage thing came along and then I heard gays made up only 3%, I've even heard as low as 1%......That was the first thing I thought when I read the headline
"Scientists: Bush Distorts Science" was that probably accounted for our (gays) varying numbers.
