1. I heard on NPR today that the feds feel he is the last of the indictments
and that Ken Lay would not be indicted.

How about that? I guess it pays to be big buddies with Bush.

3. Same thing I heard.
I can damned sure think of a charge to try him on: insider trading.

While he was busy dumping his shares as fast as he possibly could, he was telling his own workers to keep on buying. Fucking asshole.

2. All corporate whores ...
... need to be frog-marched into court. Oh please ye gods ... let Bush and Cheney be among those that are chosen for such treatment!

4. When I watched Skilling testify about Cliff Baxter, I knew...
...in my gut and in my heart that he was lying through his teeth. I believe that he was a party to the murder of Cliff Baxter.

10. I would believe your gut and your heart
First, I saw the feds talking today, and one of them, I believe it was Cutler, chief of enforcement, made sure to emphasize that they are still investigating, and they will continue to bring cases as long as there are cases to be made.

Of course, Lay is highly politically connected. But, even if Bush wants to protect him ultimately, it wouldn't cost much to indict him before the election, and let him off afterward if Bush wins (or seems to win).

If anyone can bring Lay down, it would presumably be Skilling (although anyone with a computer and a working brain could indeed indict Lay on insider trading -- he repeatedly said the company was fine and the stock price was a great deal, while selling millions of shares the same day, even as the price plummeted, the SEC began investigating, Enron began contacting the White House, and warning letters from Sherron Watkins and Margaret Cecconni arrived).

Skilling is arrogant, a risk taker, reportedly a serial adulterer -- testified in front of Congress when everyone else took the Fifth. And he argued circles around the Senators, even while lying. So, he may not want to do a deal, rather take his chances. He is COMPLETELY lawyered up -- has lawyers who have done cases involving OJ, Heidi Fleiss, Charles Keating cases, Terry Nichols.

When Skilling spoke about Baxter, I believe he was lying. I have no independent verification that he was even a best friend of Baxter's. I also believe Baxter was killed. I don't know who did it.

I do believe Skilling is missing that piece of humans that says, "This is wrong."

11. His lawyers were yelling scapegoat.
Who is he the scapegoat for if not someone higher than he was? Is this where the deal making starts or did that already take place?
