2. No PERP walk you note
Where were the cameras? Where were the feeding dogs of the press?

Oh, I forgot, he's a republican donor - not Martha Stewart who gets paraded before the cameras because she's a Democrat.

4. I read that at some point he'll have on the handcuffs...
I will cut out the picture and post it with Fastow's (my brother worked for Enron for 25 years and lost EVERYTHING). Jeffrey Skilling is the personification of evil. I'll never forget a "joke" that he told at one of their national conferences (it was shown on CSPAN). He said: "What's the difference between California and the Titanic? At least when the Titanic sank, they had the lights on." Later, it was reported that Enron intially manipulated the California grids (where I live) to cause the blackouts in 2001. I never got why Davis was blamed for everything.

8. I hope you get your justice.
The closer you are to ground zero on this one, the more it must grate that these people are treated so much better than everyone else. It's time to rip down the double-standards in this country.

13. My brother worked for Enron and got rich.
Edited on Thu Feb-19-04 10:18 AM by lovedems
He got a 200,000 dollar "bonus" (don't sue us) when Enron crumbled. He is so damn proud of himself. My family told him, go ahead and pat yourself on the back for making all that money off the people who couldn't afford their heating bills and lost all of their savings. We had to remind him where that money came from. He is living large now, is a republican, and I have little respect for him. My entire family has lost respect for him and his wife, who indcidentally was raised on union money and is now a republican.

More hypocrisy.

The worst thing I can say about my immediate family is that my younger sister makes bulk purchases from Walmart.

...of course, my husband's family is another story...

21. Well, the only way we are lucky is he and his wife are the lone
republicans in a long line of generational democrats. Instead of listening to his family he chose to listen to Pigboy.

He fills his daughters heads with "Clinton was a bad man" rhetoric. That kind of nonsense doesn't go over well with my extended family. He is seen as grossly uninformed. We all think it is funny and let him know that while he thinks he sounds so smart, he really doesn't. Maybe someday he will get it but we aren't holding our breath.

5. Here's the story from BBC News:
From: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/3502303.stm

Enron boss surrenders to FBI

Former Enron chief executive Jeff Skilling has surrendered to the FBI in Houston. Surrounded by lawyers, the 50-year-old walked into the bureau's headquarters, and is due to appear in court later in the day. Mr Skilling is expected to be charged with fraud and conspiracy. He is the highest ranking former Enron executive to be indicted over its collapse. Investigations now turn towards former Enron chairman Ken Lay.

Mr Lay currently remains a free man, and like Mr Skilling has professed his innocence. Mr Skilling's surrender to the FBI comes a month after former Enron chief financial officer Andrew Fastow pleaded guilty to two fraud counts in exchange for a 10-year prison sentence. Mr Fastow is now free on $5m bail until his formal sentencing, set for April. Enron collapsed and filed for bankruptcy in December 2001, after it was revealed that it had hidden billions of dollars in debt. The episode has rocked corporate America.

Harvard-educated Mr Skilling joined Enron in 1990 and was quickly promoted. In 1997 he became president and chief operating officer, before in February 2001 becoming chief executive. Mr Skilling was a key driver in Enron's transformation from a sleepy pipeline company into a corporate giant and darling of Wall Street. But in August 2001 - after just six months at the top of the company - he unexpectedly resigned, saying he wanted time to enjoy life. According to published records, he pocketed $15m in stock options, and in testimony two years ago to the US House Energy and Commerce Committee said: "I absolutely, unequivocally thought the company was in good shape."

11. Bush was just waiting
for election year. Don't worry, he'll get Kenny-boy soon. He doesn't care about him, he has no more money to give to Bush. Bush needs to appear strong on corporate lawbreakers, thus Ken Lay is going down, and Bush will be able to say "See, we got him, we'll get all of them (as soon as it comes out that they have their hand in the cookie jar)"

Another victim of Bush (I know he's not a victim, but he is a consequence of the game he decided to play)

15. Would any of these clowns
dare substantiate the relationship between Kenny Boy and chimpy? God, it's the 80's all over again. Then it was Ivan Boesky (sp) and Michael Milkin. But this is many times worse.

18. Glug ... glug ... glug
As someone who sat less than 20 feet from Skilling in Las Vegas when he made his infamous "Titanic Joke" * ... all I can say is like that great ship, I hope he has hit his iceburg and goes down, never to reappear.

* Skilling was the closing keynote speaker at a conference I attended. During Q&A, someone asked, "What about California?" (this was the middle of the Cali energy crisis). Skilling replied: "You know the difference between California and the Titanic? The Titanic had it lights on when it went down."

Edited on Thu Feb-19-04 12:32 PM by skypilot
I think I know who you are talking about. I forget his name but I think his last name was Baxter and I don't believe for a second that he actually killed himself.

On edit: His name was John Clifford Baxter. Here are some links:

26. yes, that's the guy
yes, that's the guy i was talking about. skilling's fake crying when talking about him during the congressional hearings was a joke. i have questions about whether he killed himself also. but considering he was another criminal of enron and a coward he is also likely to do it himself.
