Janklow's Request for New Trial Rejected

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- The judge handling former Rep. Bill Janklow's manslaughter case has rejected his request for a new trial, according to a court order filed Wednesday.

It was the latest refusal from Judge Rodney Steele to pleas from the former Republican governor and congressman to overturn the case.

Janklow, 64, started serving a 100-day jail sentence Feb. 7 for the Aug. 16 accident that killed a motorcyclist.

He should thank his lucky stars that he didn't get 7-10 years! That is the standard sentence for that crime where he was prosecuted. Most other people were given at least a few years...
