Are You a Bush Booster–or Basher? (MSNBC Outs Freeps Manipulating Poll)
Edited on Wed Feb-18-04 06:19 PM by kskiska
(snip)

Editor's Note: This week, the online version of the Newsweek poll received an unusually high rate of response, with the clear majority of participants casting uniform votes. For these reasons, we believe the poll is being intentionally manipulated. In addition, we received an e-mail alert suggesting that the campaign is being coordinated by at least one special-interest group.

14. Turd Blossom Rove has around 140 people on his staff.
This was as of over one year ago. He probably has more now. Besides, what is more important to Bush? Running the country or ruining the country?

11. Usually DUers do not advocate people vote more than once
Where as it is pretty much a given at FR. I only vote once in these kind of polls.

16. Sorry. but I have to disagree
Not only have I been advised to vote repeatedly but I have been given instructions on how to trick the system into letting you. This is one reason I very seldom read or believe any Internet polls.

I don't think you find people that are any more partisan or passionate about their views on the DU than on the FR. We are just opposite poles of the political spectrum.

32. You have to overlook his objections
As he later states to you, he agrees with me and my points...this time. I believe the bunch in his panties are the results of disagreements on other points we may have had. This, combined with the rules against calling fellow DUers Freepers and the likes, forces him to use snide insinuations instead. Childish perhaps, but I am sure it helps him cope.

8. Typical of the White House ...
If they don't like the real answers enlist help changing the results to fit their objectives. Just like how they manipulated and lied about the intelligence on WMD in order to get backing for their invasion of Iraq.

33. I honestly take "DU a poll" meaning VOTE.
Does not mean vote multiple times.. or cheat. Friends send me poll links all the time, being made aware of a poll, does not mean we are cheating it. I haven't read one post here in the past few years that advocate cheating a poll that way.

The question of this situation is having the White House supposedly using our tax dollars to further Bush's standing in the 2004 race. If one of the Democratic candidates did that on here, we'd reject it fast. It's sleazy.

36. Even without the freepers, this poll was MEANT to be bias
And would have had built in bias even had it not been an online poll. Notice the grouping of the questions and the types of allowable responses.... even the title of the fucking thing is meant to attract certain kinds of respondents.

This is a classic example of why everyone should be EXTREMELY skeptical of almost ANY poll done in America these days.

I know I carp on this all of the time, but only because it's true- and because so many DU'ers seem to place a lot of weight on results that most trained analysts could pick apart in their sleep.
