Gov't Launches Criminal Probe

UPDATED: 9:22 pm EST January 30, 2009

WASHINGTON -- The government said schools and agencies in at least three states were shipped possibly tainted peanut products that have been recalled in a nationwide salmonella outbreak. The products were shipped as part of the federal school meal program.

A spokesman for the Agriculture Department's Food and Nutrition Service said schools, daycare centers and group homes in California, Idaho and Minnesota received roasted peanuts and peanut butter from Georgia-based Peanut Corp. of America. The USDA had said previously that school meal programs were not affected by the large-scale recall.

Stores have already pulled more than 430 kinds of cakes, cookies and other peanut-containing foods from shelves in what the Food and Drug Administration is calling one of the largest product recalls in memory. The outbreak has sickened more than 500 people in the United States. As many as eight deaths may be linked to the outbreak.

The government has opened a criminal investigation into the outbreak.

Stephen Sundlof, head of the FDA's food safety center, said Friday the Justice Department will investigate possible criminal violations by the Blakely, Ga., peanut processing plant that shipped tainted products to dozens of other food companies.

1. I figure the next place the recalled peanuts and pb will show up . . .
Is the food pantries . . . you wouldn't believe some of the awful stuff that gets donated, stuff you wouldn't feed your dog. But these companies get a product that doesn't sell (and there is a reason it doesn't sell because it's awful!) and they dump it all into food pantries and food banks and take a tax right off.

4. Why is the unqualified Sundlof still at the FDA?
Stephen Sundlof, head of the FDA's food safety center, said Friday the Justice Department will investigate possible criminal violations by the Blakely, Ga., peanut processing plant that shipped tainted products to dozens of other food companies.

This guy is a bush-era appointee whose only academic credential is that he's a vet. Other than that, he's just another "loyal bushie."

He thinks there is a "safe level" for melamine in food, including baby formula. Where there was no permissible level for melamine in baby formula before, Sundlof decided to establish a safe level after it was found in formula -- using Chinese ingredients, natch -- and the safe level was arbitrarily chosen to be above that found in the intentionally adulterated Chinese ingredients.

PROSECUTE THIS COMPANY! When the DC Government won't take matters and regulate then it's UP TO THE STATES and the PEOPLE in those states where the Poisoned Peanuts went to TAKE ACTION!

6. we live in the aftermath of a society that has learn to hate thanks to hate radio and progamming for
the last thirty years. And with negligence of rules, regulations, and laws. It is surprising we are not worst off.

But these practices are a result of lax FDA inspection practices, and the commitment to reduce population by any means.

The companies that put out these bombs are funded by FEMA, I bet. Anybody care to investigate?
