BCCI wooed Carter and Callaghan
18 February 2004

Former US President Jimmy Carter and ex-Prime Minister Lord Callaghan were among leaders wooed by BCCI founder Agha Hassan Abedi, the High Court was told. Bcci failed with debts of L10bn.

Abedi built his empire to make money movement as invisible as possible. His market included tas avoiders, intelligence agencies, political bribers, and leaders bent on looting their countries, said Gordon Pollock QC, for liquidators Deloitte.

Pollock said Abedi stole $2bn from accounts belonging to the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and his father.

1. "to make money movement as invisible as possible"
ergo the interest in the PROMIS software which would make that task more difficult? the very same software which likely picked up on the 911 eve transactions, knowledge of which is being kept secret from us

the BCCI scandal appears to be like a line of dominoes which, if fell, would be a blessing to the world

that BCCI is now in the courts in the UK tells me that, although some investigation might have had some positive effect ... the crooks got to walk to continue their criminal ways ...

Catch the tape! The once-top GOP strategist and now my favorite Repuke has nothing nice to say about the Bushes and their ties to BCCI:

4. Now we jump to a dual scandal that sort of picks up the continuity

of generations. This is the Bushes, BCCI and the bin Ladens. Now, they go back. That's the thing. You wouldn't think that they do, but they do. In the 1970's, when George Sr. was the CIA director, part of what he did, to watch for developments in the Middle East and the oil industry, involved enlisting as a CIA asset a fellow named James Bath. This is reported in a book by two Time magazine correspondents. Enlisted James Bath, who was the North American representative of two Saudi -- the family of Khalid bin Mafus, and the bin Laden family. But this was Salem bin Laden. Nobody knew about Osama at the time.

....By the 1990's, not only did you have George W. connected to BCCI and the gulf oil people and the bin Laden family and et cetera, but you had his brothers. His brother, who is now the Governor of Florida, has been reported to have been very friendly during the early 1980's with the chief Washington and national representative of BCCI, the bank of credit and commerce international that funded a lot of these arms operations.

2. BCCI "wooed" Carter, but has been supported by the neocon cabal.
Is this an offensive effort to bury the truth or will this reveal the degree of evil corruption by those currently in power in the U.S.? Either way, I suppose taking this horror institution down is good for the world.

5. Insult to Arabs' by Bank official in BCCI case
Brian Quinn, now chairman of Celtic football club, told colleagues at the Bank of England, where he used to be head of banking supervision, that Arab businessmen were liars, the High Court heard yesterday.

Mr. Quinn, who became head of banking supervision in 1986, had a "strongly held view based on his experience of Arabs" that they "would give assurances which were not worth the paper they were written on", a Bank official wrote in a memo.

His opinion is the latest disparaging comment about foreigners allegedly stated by high-ranking officials of the Bank that has come to light in the trial over the collapse of BCCI, founded by the Pakistani financier Agha Hasan Abedi.

It has already emerged that another official referred to his counterparts at regulatory bodies in other parts of the world as "wogs" in 1978.
