Second woman from Wisconsin killed in Iraq war

LENA, Wis. (AP) - A Wisconsin soldier who specialized in civil affairs was killed after only two weeks in Iraq when an improvised explosive device struck her convoy, authorities and family members said Tuesday. Pfc. Nichole M. Frye, 19, from Lena _ an Oconto County community of 600 people 30 miles north of Green Bay _ was assigned to Company A, 415th Civil Affairs Battalion of the Army Reserve in Kalamazoo, Mich.

Her mother, Lisa Frye, told The Associated Press the family received a computer e-mail from her daughter about a week ago explaining some of her duties. She had been in Iraq only about two weeks

But she said her daughter had been concerned about being shipped to Iraq.

"I think she had some fears of going over there," she said. "Actually she wanted to try and stay in the states because of my health

I post this to give a face to the nameless forgotten casualties, that mount up daily and weekly. This was on local TV this morning the family is heart-broken. She joined to save money for college so she could quit her waitress job. Tragic

People with money send their kids off to college while kids like Nichole Frye are shipped off to be cannon fodder in Iraq. The Bush twins party hearty while Nichole's family plans a funeral. This is the two Americas Edwards speaks of. Separate and unequal. Of the rich By the Rich For the Rich. Everybody else is a cog in the wheel.

There was a letter in the LA Times on Sunday from a man whose son-in-law was killed in Iraq last summer. The family is still receiving form letters from various government officials thanking them for their sacrifice. He commented on how hollow the words rang. At the funeral the government provided a final insult - a 17 gun salute because one member of the "honor guard" was a no-show and a second had a malfunctioning rifle.

As long as the populice doesn't get vocal about stopping this insanity, it will continue.

-he couldn't believe all who were telling him in the UN that Saddam was impotent. ACtually I think he knew it, especially after the UN report--then he really knew how safe it was for us to bomb mega bombs on ten thousand civilians.

We, the non privy to CIA reports, figured it out-don't tell me he is that stupid-it only makes sense--no army, no navy, no airforce--targets and infrastructure bombed for ten years, sanctions killing off potential soldiers--500,000 children died-and we were supposed to believe that Saddam was going to lob a bomb at us, or release some chemical weapons--somehow get by Bush's securtiy--bullshit---and now, for distraction we have the confusing, fawning Kay report. Hell--there were plenty of reports before Kay that said the same. Kay was a ploy--another ploy of the cowardly war president.

yesterday a ten year old Iraqi child was killed by Americans firing mortars. Ten years old--she had a name, a mother who loved her as much as the mother in Wisconsin loved her daughter :cry:
