Alberta opening D.C. office
EDMONTON ? The Alberta government announced today it will set up an office in Washington, D.C., to lobby on trade issues and to assure the United States that its beef is safe from mad cow disease.

Klein said the office is needed, not just to lobby the U.S. on BSE, but to put forward the Alberta position on various issues.

Alberta will be the only province to have such an office in Washington, although Quebec had an office there during the height of the separation movement, Norris said.
