Group seeks upgrades to voting machines.

If this is a dupe, please lock. Either way, I feel really depressed after reading this. If I have to use an electronic voting machine, I may not bother to vote. There's no paper trail and how do I know the company and the Repugs aren't tampering with it. I feel angry about this and feel betrayed that my government would endanger the accuracy of my vote in the name of progress (or in the name of fraud).

9. I'm from Georgia, and I'm voting absentee for the first time
After last election I am voting absentee for now. May not be the safest bet, but at least I can put down on paper who my candidate is.

2. For God's sake, vote....
File for an absentee ballot, or vote on the damn things if you have to. We NEED every vote and we have to vote and keep our eyes glued to the machines.

3. Vote Absentee, Its Safer.
It must be a priority for people in e-voting districts to vote absentee. The Repukes can only steal 5% of the vote without getting caught. Anything more will throw the exit polls way off, like they did in Florida. With the leading contender at 5% to 9% ahead of the Chimp, a 10% majority vote is quite attainable. Even with cheating, Our nominee would still win by 3% to 6% if the real non cheating lead was %10 percent.

4. Don't fool yourself...
These * thugs will stop at nothing to win. They will just spin the inconsistencies so as to confuse people. Seeing the lies that have already been made on a regular basis, the * repugs are quite capable of cheating even if it shows.

How do I know if my voting district will be using machines and not ballots???

7. What did you use the last time and how long ago was that?
If you have voted in a primary this year, that is probably the same method you will use for the November general election.

No election board in their right mind would bring out a new voting machine for the first time next November. There are too many chances for glitches not just in the machines, but also in the procedures.

5. Are there exit polls anymore?
I thought the "liberal" news media disbanded the consortium which conducted exit polls after it (correctly) called Florida for Gore, then disagreed with the "official" (Republican-approved) results in 2002. In 2002 the claim was the data was so corrupted that the results or even raw data couldn't be released.

8. Repubs can steal at least 15%, probably more
like they did in Georgia in 2002.

They also gain 7% due to the red-state advantage in the Electoral College.

That is why he only needs his base,
the most ignorant and narrow-minded 29% of the voters.
At the rate he is going, he can't even count on them anymore.
He is hoping to use homophobia to stir them up
but it isn't going to work.

10. The Republicans were really mad here last November
I think they wanted Diebold computers and the county bought a different brand.

Last November we used Touch Screen by WinVote for the first time. There was a neo who was running for County Board of Supervisors or something. Anyway, she was calling her opponent "Liberal," which is not as effective in this region as in other parts of the state. She didn't win. The Republicans took the electoral board to court over our touch screen voting machines.

Nine machines (out of several hundred) had malfunctioned during the voting hours and were taken back to election headquarters to be repaired then returned to the precinct before the polls closed. If every single vote in those nine machines had been for her, she still would not have won.

The Republicans who stand outside and hand out leaflets were a little testy during the day also. One voter came in and told us he was so frustrated with them that he almost went home without voting. Who knows, they may have discouraged others and we didn't know about it.

There were a few other glitches that needed resolution, good thing it was a light turnout. I would have hated to try out new machines for the first time in the 2004 Presidential election.
