Farewell, George: Boos for Bush as the former President waves goodbye to Washington
Source: Mail online

.....

While the inauguration frenzy continues in Washington, thousands of well-wishers are expected to greet the Bushes at Centennial Plaza in Midland.

......

In Midland, some city streets have been closed since Friday and almost all of the 20,000 free tickets to the celebration have been handed out.

'The President said at the White House Christmas party that he left from Midland and was coming home to Midland because we're the ones who are his friends and great supporters and he wanted to be with us when he left Washington,' County Republican chairwoman Sue Brannon said in Monday's online edition of the Midland Reporter-Telegram.

'It shows what a fine gentleman he is.'

The event will feature entertainment by Larry Gatlin and the Gatlin Brothers, Rodney Atkins and Lee Greenwood.

Do most former Presidents hold huge rallies during the inauguration of their successor? It seems tacky.

4. Actually it's a Rick Perry for governor rally!
Even if George W Bush endorses Kay Bailey Hutchison for governor in 2010, Rick Perry has the footage of him welcoming Bush home to Texas. "Welcome home, motherfucker."

8. I sent this to KWES TV in Midland Texas
Our country is now free of the torturing war criminal that was installed by the Supreme Court 8 years ago.

The nightmare is over!
Hopefully the law will be upheld and Bush and Cheney will go to jail for a long time.
Now we have as REAL President.
President Barack Hussein Obama!

Now you can return to the tripe you broadcast on a daily basis.

Midland holds such special memories. Memories of all the times he stuck firecrackers in the mouths of frogs and lit the firecrackers and tossed the frogs in the air and watched them explode.

24. The Bush theme song...
"...I'm proud to be an American..." Shame most Americans are ashamed to admit they're Americans because of the Bushes. But that will change.

Obama did address the dynasty. Very subtly. But he did address it.

Now if he could just get rid of the dynasty at the table.

LATimes blogs has this entry

Alone among networks, Fox News gives Bush homecoming cheer

Late Tuesday afternoon, Fox News was the only major national TV outlet that carried a live telecast of former President Bush's homecoming speech to cheering supporters in Midland, Texas.

"Sometimes what I did wasn't popular," a smiling Bush told the crowd. "But that's OK. I always did what I thought was right."

The rest of the networks, however, did not see the Bush address as news fit to broadcast. At 6:40 p.m. EST, MSNBC was in the middle of "Hardball," with host Chris Matthews and guests batting around the meaning of Obama's swearing-in. CNN was carrying live ongoing coverage of the final moments of the inaugural parade, with the Obamas beaming from the White House reviewing stand.

The broadcast networks likewise did not cover the Bush speech. At least in Los Angeles, both KCBS-Channel 2 and KNBC-Channel 4 had returned to regular syndicated programming

31. I loved it!
It was certainly music to my ears! I watched it on MSNBC all day and for the most part the boos were good and loud. Even Keith wanted to join in but his professionalism prevented him from doing that. I'll bet the house that when they went to break, he cheered right along with the crowd!

32. My wingnut office-mate at work..
said FoxNews is reporting that there were 4,000,000 people waiting to greet Bush in Odessa. I find that hard to believe. He has not provided me with a link and Odessa News says 30,000 and Wall Street Journal says 20,000. Maybe it was a mistake in the amount of zeros.
