Questions Over Bush 9/11 Testimony
Edited on Tue Feb-17-04 04:17 PM by rmpalmer
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/01/27/terror/main596208.shtml

In their latest disagreement, the White House and the panel proving the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks are at odds over whether President Bush will meet with the entire panel, or only a few members.

Mr. Bush agreed Friday to meet privately with the federal commission reviewing the Sept. 11 attacks.

The commission "today requested a private meeting with the President to discuss information relevant to the commission's work. The President has agreed to the request," said White House press secretary Scott McClellan.

Commission members took that to mean Mr. Bush would meet with all of them. But as early as Saturday, the White House began moving away from that.

"While details of the private sessions are still to be determined, the White House does not expect the president to meet with the entire commission," an administration official told The Washington Post.

uhh, he'll only meet with the Repubs?

ding ding ding!

on edit: which is fine, except: swear him in, and keep a transcript, which goes immediately to the full committee.

re-edit: actually, that's NOT fine. Dems must be present.

3. Forget the commission; Bush needs to answer the questions of the
9/11 widows.

I mean, heck, he has nothing to hide, right?

6. I listened to Kristen and the other 3 9/11 NJ widows on NPR...
Edited on Tue Feb-17-04 04:43 PM by leftchick
One of them said she is confused as to how bush* used 9/11 as a pretext for invading Iraq. She asked why is Iraq still connected to 9/11 when it has been proven there is NO connection. Then 2 hours later chimpass* is having his photo-op in costume spewing that 9/11/terra/Iraq rhetoric yet again. I can barely stand it, I don't know how these widows of the victims do. It is sickening.... :puke:

7. This is crap. We need an independent commission with subpeona powers
Bush should have no role in appointing members and he should not be able to pick and choose about how and when he will testify. Until we get that there will be no public confidence in the commission's report.

10. great analogy
The press has treated him as if he is untouchable (just like Achilles after his mother dipped him in the river), when in reality September 11 was a miserable failure. Their incompetence left us vulnerable to begin with. Then Bush cowered "out of harm's way" throughout September 11. Since then they have shamelessly used it to ram through totally unrelated items on their agenda, and hammer critics as unpatriotic. One shot to this Achilles' heel and the entire cadre of heels will be exposed.

9. Eventually, george will just want to meet with Rove and have him
pass the information(lack of) along to the committee. george is such a fine president, it's just heartwarming to know he wants to share everything he knows about 911.

12. and he won't have to testify under oath, just like Rice
so why insult us with the pretense of an investigation.

If I had lost a loved one in the WTC attacks, I would go on tv, fox if possible, please, and blast these irresponsible pricks.

let Bill O'lie-ly tell one of the 9-11 widows to shut up.

he did tell a son of a 9-11 victim, so I wouldn't put it past him, but maybe then the assholes who watch Fox would wake the buck up.
