"There's a plane in the Hudson. I'm on the ferry going to pick up the people. Crazy." Krums posted via Twitter's TwitPic service.

I knew that that photo was shot with an iPhone. I know the aspect ratio very well.

1. Beautiful!
I saw that photo last night and believe it is the most incredible photo taken of the crash. To know that it was taken on an iPhone makes it all the more sweet. (Yes, I'm one of those Apple fanatics).

6. But if the photo was taken with a Zune you'd be angry at Billy G.

3. Well, it does look to me like
the photographer was taking pics of the skyline and a distressed plane, bush could still get him a few nights at gitmo.

8. Why the snide comment? Where does it say that he has a trust fund?
I swear, the hostility and negativity around here is just stunning sometimes.

5. Aren't there pictures of the plane still in the air?
How can this be the first photo if that's the case?

11. This photo was the picked up off of twitter and sent around to all the major news services.
This happened right after the ditch. It was even found and posted here by a DUer. Same thing happened with a plane going off of a runway the other week. An iPhone and Twitter.

16. You see what the first guy that scampered out to the tip of the right wing did ?
he jumped into the water !

I would have posted the link in its own thread but that site isn't recognized for "breaking news" value around here.

lucky no ice was floating in the water during the splashdown.
imo, the story would have had a slightly different ending.

I heard on the radio the pilots wife was quoted as saying her husband was a pilots pilot that deeply understood 'the art of the airplane'

Ya think he will get laid off the next go round ? lol

18. Frankly...
...I don't think he needs the money. This guy lives ten minutes from me and the people who live in that neighborhood aren't hurting.

He's never gonna need US Airways again to make a living. He's almost retired as it is. He turns 58 next week and they're done at 60.

There was apparently some talk of him teaching at UC-Berkeley.

24. I visited it in 2007
going up through Danville - so I knew exactly where Sully was from.

One of the photos I took of the Diablo Fairy Lantern ended up in a foreign science magazine.
