Legendary Dallas real estate developer Trammell Crow died Wednesday night at his East Texas ranch.

Crow – a Dallas native who became a worldwide icon in the real estate business – had been ill for some time.

His career, which spanned more than five decades, included building everything from modest Trinity River district warehouses to resorts and commercial buildings in Europe and in the Far East.

His soaring projects were major additions to the skylines of cities across the country, including Atlanta and San Francisco.

I remember when he rigged something in Santa Fe to put in that glass thing in the city of adobe. I was living in the area when he put in all those glass buildings in Houston and some hurricane blew them all out and sent long shards of glass down on the citizens below.

I have sympathy for his family and those who loved him, but I was not impressed with his career.
