Kerry lover holed up in city house
By Nixon Ng’ang’a

The woman who could end Senator John Kerry’s chances of becoming president of the United States remained holed up in a Lavington house in Nairobi amid claims that she had confessed her affair to a US TV station.

The gate to the house where twenty four-year old Alexandra Polier, who allegedly had a two-year affair with the Senator favoured to clinch the Democratic Party nomination stays, was closed yesterday.

Local and international journalists camped at the gate for hours but were denied access to house no 909 on James Gichuru Road, next to the Spring Garden Chinese Restaurant.

A guard at the gate said he had firm instructions not to open the gate to journalists " or any strange people."

8. Monica and her parents gave similar statements
I really don't want to have to go through this shit again! Shrub is so beatable, now isn't the time to blow it on someone who could blow up in our faces in October.

This may all be false, but I hope someone in the party is investigating Kerry's background. The time to find out about bad stuff is NOW.. not October.

This story has been debunked. According to Drudge, she dated some guy from the Kerry office.

21. Sounds like you are a republican
In this country a person is innocent until proven guilty, as far as the republicans are concerned a person is guilty until proven inocent. I hate to burst your bubble, but the story has no merit

27. I was being sarcastic - I agree that the story has no merit
I guess my sarcasm didn't come across.

Also, FYI, calling another person a "Republican" on DU is considered against the rules. I'm not going to sweat it though, since you misunderstood my post.

Please, Goddess, let this story DIE!

23. Difference between Clinton & Kerry
There is a big difference between Clinton and Kerry. Clinton was accused of lying under oath so Starr forced Lewinsky to change her testimony. If Lewinsky had not changed her story, she could have gone to prison.

Kerry's case is different because he was not under oath at the time he denied having an affair. Even if he lied (which now looks very unlikely), he has committed no crime so there are no legal grounds to pursue this case. Polier is also under no legal or moral obligation to discuss her private life with anyone. Indeed, she is a private citizen and her sex life is nobody's business but her own.

Republicans and their allies would be wise to remember this fact. They may alienate voters if voters start feeling that they are unfairly harassing Polier to score political points.

7. There's absolutely nothing in this story to substantiate the rumor.
(snip)
Yesterday, US newspapers reported that the brunette described as having "the perkiness of a cheerleader and the ambition of a Hollywood starlet" had given a kiss-and-tell story to a TV station in December.

The station has however been reluctant to air the story apparently because it was not credible.
(snip/...)

PLEASE take some time to think!

13. Er, this is a little different.
This is his purported accuser denying the story. Not even remotely close to Nixon's denial of Watergate. To be similar, you'd have to have Woodward and Bernstein denying the Watergate story.

Edited on Mon Feb-16-04 09:49 PM by MasonJar
This is a non-story. The girl gave an interview in Nairobi today at which she said it was not true. She is there visiting her fiance's parents. I cannot imagine a more harrowing time to visit one's future in-laws. How many people are these freaks going to try to bring down? Let's stop assisting them. We know this is going to be dirty and probably fixed.

36. With Rove and all other bottom feeders more is surely yet to come.
Their idiot leader can't defend his record so they've got to slam his likely opponent, John Kerry. I just hope more DUers know how to practice what Carl Sagan called "The fine art of baloney detection".

Given some of the posts I've seen on this board I'm not so sure. I ask everyone, "Would you rather have four more years of Bush because your candidate did not win the Democratic nomination?"

25. It sure seems this "story" is being perpetuated more by some "DUers" than
by anybody on the "other side". I'm about ready to leave this place.
No wonder the Democratic party can't win a goddamn election, it's got too many idealogues who can't accept what is actually going on. I was for Dean at the beginning, but actually embraced Kucinich's position more, but had to recognize that DK can't be actually ELECTED fer chrissakes...and recently that Dean has virtually no chance either...so I voted for Clark in the OK primary (which he actually won here), and now he is gone and supports Kerry which is absolutely no problem for me.

I guess I'm just a stupid Okie, I thought the idea was to get rid of the fucking moron squatting in the White House, but apparently some "democrats" wanna shit on JK now that he's way ahead.
