Bush Delivers Final Policy Speech with Few Watching
Source: CNN

Twelve days before he leaves office, President Bush delivered his final policy speech, choosing to focus on his signature education reform law known as "No Child Left Behind." But as he spoke, television networks - including CNN - carried another address happening simultaneously: President-elect Barack Obama's speech on the ailing US economy.

"At the end of the presidency, you get to do a lot of 'lasts,'” Mr. Bush noted in his remarks at a school in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. "This is my last policy speech. As President of the United States, this is the last policy address I will give," Bush said.

"What makes it interesting is that it's the same subject of my first policy address as President of the United States, which is education and education reform."

1. And what has he done to education?
Ruined it with this No Child Left Behind insanity.

Good riddance to very bad rubbish.

4. He's done the same thing to education
that he's done to the economy, the environment, the infrastructure, the world and to the people. his score is perfect-he's batting 0.000 on doing anything worthwhile.

9. No Child Left Behind is a major FAIL

Bush didn't adequately fund it, states are bending over backwards to get out of it and Congress on both sides of the aisle are trying to change or do away with it.

13. Those who watched the speech may also want to download "Highlights of
Accomplishments and Results" from the White House website: it is a cheery booklet recounting many wonderful things that the Bush Administration would like you to remember, whether they actually occurred or not

The first thing the Administration wants you to remember is a photograph of somebody standing on a rubble pile with a bullhorn; and while you are remembering rubble and bullhorn, the Administration also wants you to remember Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, whose trial will be complicated by CIA waterboarding -- although waterboarding and other forms of torture do not merit mention in the booklet

You will be told President Bush took unprecedented measures to prevent weapons of mass destruction (WMD) from falling into hands of our enemies -- although the fact, that in the summer of 2007 six nuclear cruise missiles were accidentally taken from Minot Air Force Base and flown across the country before anyone noticed they were missing, seems not to figure in the report

You will be told under President Bush’s leadership, the United States has worked to aid the rise of free societies around the world -- although the fact, that the US kidnapped Aristide (Haiti's first elected President) in the dark of night and flew him to the Central African Republic, leaving him in the hands of the government newly established there by a recent coup, doesn't appear to discussed

You will be told The United States completed a historic civil nuclear agreement with India -- but the fact, that India still hasn't signed the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty (which was once a traditional sine quo non for such deals) is ignored

In short, DUers might spend many hours debunking this happyface horseshit -- and it might be a good idea to do so before everybody begins to forget just what a big smelly heap these people dumped on us

14. Yet another Legacy of The Bush ERROR
We can't stand much more of the prosperity in Appalachia, http://www.wisecountyissues.com Bush/Cheney and THE CLEAN HYBRID COAL INDUSTRY have bombed, blasted and bulldozed us right into Third World America. Our watershed is toxic, MRSA is infecting our homes, schools, restaurants, churches and as long as the politicians and profit machines come first people don't matter... Bush is a TOXIC TERRORIST all across the landscape of America.

18. Meaning no disrespect, but who the f cares what his policy on anything is at this point? He's
history in ten days. And that's is the only thing this is about. History. The Bush Legacy Project. He is such a maroon, he sees No Child Left Behind as one of his successes.
