Cheney: CIA Did Nothing Illegal in Interrogations
Source: ABC News

Vice President Dick Cheney said Thursday that he sees no reason for President George W. Bush to pre-emptively pardon anyone at the CIA involved in harsh interrogations of suspected terrorists. "I don't have any reason to believe that anybody in the agency did anything illegal," he said. In an interview with The Associated Press, Cheney also said that Bush has no need to apologize for not foreseeing the economic crisis.

"I don't think he needs to apologize. I think what he needed to do is take bold, aggressive action and he has," Cheney said. "I don't think anybody saw it coming."

During a wide-ranging interview in his West Wing office, Cheney also said Iran remains at the top of the list of foreign policy challenges that President-elect Barack Obama will face. He said an "irresponsible withdrawal" from Iraq now would be ill-advised. And he said he's confident that North Korea helped Syria build a reactor — a site that Israel suspected of being a nuclear installation and bombed in 2007.

After Obama takes the oath of office on Jan. 20, the 67-year-old Cheney plans to possibly write a book and spend time with his wife, Lynne, their two daughters and six grandchildren. He and his wife will split their time between their house in Virginia and their hometown of Casper, Wyo.

4. I suppose when you can invent your own definition it doesn't sound illegal?
US administration officials have also sought to restrict the definition of torture. The notorious
August 2002 memo said that torture was confined to inflicting severe pain "equivalent in intensity
to the pain accompanying serious physical injury, such as organ failure, impairment of bodily
function, or even death".
By defining torture in such strict terms, it is easier to deny that torture has been approved or
used. A number of deaths in US custody are now being investigated by the US military. The US
has denied allegations that some detainees have been transferred to the custody of governments

5. They're so damn clever, aren't they?
Yes, Dick, no one in the CIA did anything "illegal" because you and
your legal henchmen redefined the legal definition of torture to mean
any action that doesn't kill or cause organ failure.

The new-and-improved definition of torture also states that if a detainee
does happen to die from the interrogation, then it isn't a crime if the
death was the result of trying to extract information. Therefore, according
to your definition, it was not an intentional murder--but an attempt to
extract information.

So Dick is right. It's legal to torture and kill in this country. They
worked hours and hours on that definition and their legal eagles made damn
sure that they could torture people legally.

Wipe the smug look off of your flabby face, Dick.

Your sickness is a weakness. It's not clever or cute or even wise. You're
just a dumb, weak fuck up.

Yeah, we're all so impressed.

You're nothing but a third-class, boring bully.

9. On the positive side, the rest of the world had not ...
adopted this definition of torture.

So when ever the Bush crime family step into foreign soil,
they will no doubt be subject to criminal prosecution through
the world court for crimes against the Geneva Convention.

The host country being embarrassed that King George is about
to be arrested within it's borders, that he is quietly wisked
out of the country before an arrest is implemented.
This will happen multiple times, in the next few years.
