Kerry Blasts Bush's Daytona 'Photo Op'
Yahoo News

WAUSAU, Wis. - A confident John Kerry launched a full-throttle attack on President Bush's economic policies, mostly ignoring his Democratic rivals on the eve of the Wisconsin primary. Howard Dean's campaign shed another top manager and John Edwards vowed to press on no matter how he fares Tuesday.

Kerry, who has a commanding lead in the race to oppose Bush this fall, chided the president for taking time out Sunday to attend the Daytona 500, saying the country was bleeding jobs while he posed for a "photo opportunity." Bush had donned a racing jacket to officially open NASCAR's most prestigious event in front of some 180,000 fans.

"We don't need a president who just says, `Gentlemen start your engines'," Kerry said. "We need a president who says, `America, let's start our economy and put people back to work."

Looks like it's time to take the gloves off. As they say, may the best man win. I am very glad that Kerry is going after W for his photo op/political stunt yesterday. This was right up there with the Mission Accomplished Stunt and the Thanksgiving Turkey stunt. Bu$h just continues to show the world what a jerk and miserable failure he really is. GO GET 'EM KERRY!

Not that Kerry would say so here in deference to the NASCAR loving public but it is still pretty shameful as far as the world goes.

"A true lady is always worried about showing up in public in the same outfit as someone else. Avoid this potential problem by completing your Liz Claiborne stretch slacks with a Butterick jacket you can make yourself using fabric from an old lilac bridesmaid's dress."

See on the right top, those 2 towers! When I went to De Anza College to see Reagan, back when, the SS or Military Intelligence, had scaffolding towers set up with 2 guys holding riffles. And they weren't trying to hide the fact either. (I've got pics somewhere.) Anyway, I'm wondering if that's what those towers were used for?

7. we do have a stunt prone presidunce
Edited on Mon Feb-16-04 05:35 PM by Marianne
that is for certain. WE also have a stunt compliant first lady who shows up is stupid, ill fitting clothing to support her stunt prone husband, NO MATTER WHAT.

What a bunch of stunt people who have nothing else to rely upon but their
stunts.

Jesys chreeist he looks awful in this one.

He is bloated looking and fat looking and it mentions Laura

==excuse me but where is Laura in this photo?

"President Bush (news - web sites), left, and first lady Laura Bush, background left, greet home schooled students who came out to wish President Bush a happy President's Day as he arrives at Andrews Air Force Base, Md., Monday, Feb. 16, 2004. (AP Photo/Jacqueline Malonson ) "

They are looking more and more like cartoon characters and it is getting more and more obvious that they both are playing a part, neither of which is particularly gifted at doing so.

We are NOT convinced, Pickles and George.

I do believe that with photos like this, this couple, complete with the vacant, rictus smiling, do nothing unless you are told, Laura who killed her teenaged lover, will bring them both down.

Americans, on the whole, do not subscribe to this type of fakery. I believe that.

Even freepers have to see this stupidity and this propaganda for what it is.

It is an insult to all intelligent and discerning Americans.

Ugh, he and his rictus smiling, ill dressed Stepford compliant wife are absolutely horrific.

What will we do when they propel their progeny, their two, late conceived twins, onto the lying stage to promote violence, war and killing?

I hope we can do something to point out the shallowness of all the b
ush family and their evil ways

Kerry has the national platform now, as the front-runner and presumably the Democratic nominee. He by GOD had BETTER be criticizing Bush EVERY DAMN DAY!!

22. I will vote for Kerry
as most will even though they have their doubts. It is a vote to get an evil man, Bush out of the office he captured, but did not win, and who took his country to two wars, both of which have beenfailures. He is also an idiot who loves dressing up in costumes and performing on stage for extravaganzas, such as the ost recent appearance at Daytona.

Ugh--stop this insanity. We are a vast , rich, and powerful country who virtually controls what goes on in the rest of thw world. Do we need a stupid assed, ignorant, pretender who knows nothing stealing elections and do we need to put up with the likes of him and his fatassed, rictus smiling Stepford "whatever he says is OK" wife?

No way and we know it. It is really an embarrassment that this stupid assed, ignorant and virtually incompetant, photo op loving, man was ever even in contention. It is the enormous amounts of obscene money that has enabled an idiot to run and be in charge of this enormously powerful countrym, and that has got to stop. We are murdering people because of this.

This "money" that has propelled a stupid man, an incompetent man, has caused the deaths of thousands of people. It happened under his watch and he is responsible for it. If it continues, and he is elected by the majority who condone this slaughter and killing and invasion under lies, then I would suggest that every man look out for himnself, because those who do not have this money will be the slaves of those who do.

27. to encourage recreating with fossil fuels is irresponsible!
It is incredible to me that people in leadership roles in the US continue to push recreation that relies on continued supplies of cheap oil.

In WA state there is a big push to build a race track. Likely scenario, track built at taxpayer expense opens the first year oil and gas prices triple.

our dependence on cheap fossil fuels extends well beyond transportation. We rely on cheap fossil fuel for our electricity, food production, plastics, fertilizers, pesticides, heating, the list goes on.

Is that a real picture of Air Force One, or is it PhotoShopped.
The nose is up like it is taking off. Did he really leave before the race was over?

How expensive are NASCAR tickets? I guess they vary. I heard the tickets to Darlington were $300. Not exactly a price easily paid by the average man.

With the noise of the track and the noise of a plane taking off, do those people still have eardrums?

50. No it's a real pic.
I think because of the zoom lens that the plane appears larger and closer than it really is. However, one of the runways for the Daytona airport is right behind the race track.

As to your second question, yes Bu$h didn't stick around long after he got the pics he needed for his photo op. Air Force 1 took off within a couple of hours after the race started.

Just another example of Bu$h daily abuse of power.

51. I'm not trying to support Bush here, but
in this particular picture, it's AF1 taking off. It has to take off at this angle behind the stands. The airport is right there. Normally, you don't see a lot of planes taking off or landing during a race. Especially since 9-11. Over sporting events there's a no fly zone now. So basically everything gets shut down during the race.

Lots of private planes fly in there too. Car owners and some drivers fly while equipment and teams come in by truck and bus. Most tracks are build as close to the airport as possible. Or you have a short hop from the airport by helicopter, like in the case of Tony Stewart when he races in the Indy 500 in the morning and flies to get to his NASCAR race that afternoon. He usually only has a 30 minute window to get to the next race.

I missed the beginning of the race so I couldn't comment on grandstanding then. But, I saw the take off that was just an average take off.

55. Apparently the grandstanding with AF 1
Edited on Tue Feb-17-04 01:01 PM by DoYouEverWonder
took place when they were flying into land at Daytona. I heard that AF 1 didn't go straight in but banked around so the stadium got a good view and then went in. If that is true, then this stunt was a blatant abuse of power by W, especially during an election year. Not to mention the security issues. Wasn't it only a few weeks ago we were at Orange Alert?

57. You can't just lump
NASCAR fans into a group. I think a lot of NASCAR fans get aggravated over the term NASCAR dad. I am a NASCAR fan. I am not a "NASCAR dad".

Why do we (as people in general) have to try to lump people into groups? None of us like it. Those neocons. Those left wing liberals. Those homosexuals. Those fundamentalists.

You label someone and you risk alienating them. When you assume all women are pro-choice you make a mistake. When you assume all African Americans will vote Democrat you make a mistake. When you attack Christianity and it's symbols you alienate many liberal thinking Christians and swing them toward a Republican vote. When you go and say something like you don't need the southern votes you tick off a lot of liberal southerners. If you quit pandering to groups and make the case for ALL people that's when we can make a difference.

Another problem with labels. Once you label someone, that's how you think about them. That's how you treat them. And that's how they'll vote. Instead of telling a group how wrong or stupid they are how about telling them what we can do to make their lives better.

48. Kerry is in touch with the common man.
He has much more in common with the working class than any Bush will ever have.

56. The NASCAR appearance was very unpresidential
but, of course, what has * done that is Presidential?

Those types of appearances are for B-List celebrities, not a president. Just horrible whoring for votes.

61. He even orderd a NASCAR outfit to play dress up in.
I'm surprised he didn't arrive dressed in one of the fire proof jumpsuits the drivers wear.
