A retired Air National Guard physician recalls giving President Bush a physical in 1972, his son said Saturday, adding another memory to the small but growing pool of recollections of Bush's military service in Montgomery.

The memories of Bush's service contradict a dearth of paperwork surrounding his time assigned to the Alabama Air National Guard, but a retired Air National Guard personnel officer said the lack of records could very well be the result of shoddy record-keeping, as opposed to deliquence on Bush's part.

James Anderson was a physician for the Montgomery-based 187th Tactical Reconnaissance Group. His son, Montgomery physician Noble Anderson, said his father performed a routine examination on Bush at Dannelly Air National Guard base in 1972.

Noble Anderson said his 64-year-old father had directed media inquiries to him because of his age, and because he did not want to be inundated with calls from the press. The military doctor says that Lt. Col. John "Bill" Calhoun brought Bush by his office for an exam, Noble Anderson said.

James Anderson could not remember which month he saw Bush, only that it was some time in 1972, his son said.

by just taking the Exam. If that was all there was to it.

Very probably the flight exam requires a certified flight surgeon. This doctor may not have that certification, or may have performed some different exam.

The work of an interceptor pilot is not all glory and roses. It is a very technical job, with having to know all the aircraft systems, along with the armament, as well as the flying skills.

Bush has shown time after time that he has a very short attention span and gets bored easily. After what, two years(?) of training and classroom work I would guess that he was beyond his ability to keep interested in what he was doing. Besides that, it's hard work, and he never did like work.

Plus the fact that the coward probably was afraid of flying.

BTW, Bush was grounded SIX MONTHS before he got to Alabama.

It's all fine and good to draw a contrast with Kerry's record, and we have done that, but they hold all the chips that count as for how the story is spun.
