Russian politician claims kidnapping and drugging
BLACKMAIL?: Ivan Rybkin, who went missing for five days, claims he thought he was to meet Chechnya's fugitive president but ended up in a `disgusting' video

Russian presidential hopeful Ivan Rybkin plunged poll watchers into more confusion on Friday by saying he had been drugged and filmed in a "disgusting" video in Ukraine during the five days he was missing without explanation.

Rybkin's account to journalists in London was the third time he had tried to explain why he had gone off to Kiev without telling his wife or campaign aides, triggering a police manhunt, and what he did before he resurfaced five days later.

On his return to Moscow, Rybkin, a harsh critic of President Vladimir Putin, initially said he had been with friends, but later told an interviewer he had feared for his life and gone into hiding for part of the time in the Ukrainian capital.

1. Bush's buddy Putin
I have no idea what's going on with this guy Rybkin, but I do know that there is near universal agreement that Putin has virtually destroyed democracy in Russia, which is now controlled by racists, thugs, criminals and the like. Yet, no one seems to recall that Bush once looked into Putin's eyes and espied a soulmate, a man he could "trust." It is just another telling piece of evidence of our president's utter lack of judgment and I am hoping it receives due attention in the campaign.

2. What's worse...
The alternatives are either a neo-Nazi or Brezhnev II.
