Bush makes surprise farewell visit to Iraq
Source: BBC News

US President George Bush has arrived in Iraq on a surprise, farewell visit to the country that has defined his presidency since the invasion in 2003.

The White House said Mr Bush had landed in Baghdad.

The visit comes a day after US Defence Secretary Robert Gates told US troops in Iraq that their mission there was in its "endgame".

"That's right, me and VP Dickie 'Five Military Deferments' Cheney, and our corrupt cabal of Chickenhawk Republicon Homelander Cronies, have victoriously reaped MASSIVE war profits from this needless little fiasco. Too bad, of course, about all you dead soldiers and civilians and children and stuff, and your totally trashed infrastructure and environment, and the depleted American treasury and honor and shit like that. But that's the way the cookie crumbles. Smirk."

6. can we leave him there?
seriously, I'd love to see Air Force One leaving * on the tarmac, with thousands of angry Iraqis running after him  Or a nice, long walk in Fallujah would work too.

7. He should walk through the Bab al-Sharqi market WITHOUT
the 100 soldiers, the 3 Blackhawk and 2 Apache helicopters (along with this Secret Service detail) .. you know, just to illustrate how safe Central Baghdad is.

After all, John McCain was able to do it in Spring '07.

Even Lindsey Graham was able to buy "five rugs for five bucks." :eyes:

So come on Mr. Retarddd, errr, President...

After all ...

8. Someone needs to tell that bloody bastard that you can't say farewell
to the innocent dead.

Oh wait, after a tad of thought on the subject, I guess he really wouldn't care about something like that. He'll just figure that the dead are the ones he truly liberated. From Saddam, from life, and from being a citizen of a country sitting on a good chunk of the world's oil.

14. GAG! And what did he give away while there?
Did he sign a treaty or agreement which should have been subjected to congressional approval?

There MUST have been some reason for this trip ... and, from his track record, one might reasonably suspect the reason may have involved something inconsistent with the Constitution.

Pentagon ignored danger of roadside bombs, report charges

http://www.miamiherald.com/news/politics/AP/story/806285.html

By DAVID GOLDSTEIN
McClatchy Newspapers

WASHINGTON -- The military ignored steps before the invasion of Iraq that could have prevented the staggering number of casualties from roadside bombs, the Pentagon's acting inspector general charged Tuesday.

The IG's report says that the military knew years before the war that mines and homemade bombs, which the military calls "improvised explosive devices," would be a "threat . . . in low-intensity conflicts" and that "mine-resistant vehicles" were available.

"Yet the military did not develop requirements for, fund or acquire" safer vehicles, the report says. The military invaded Iraq in 2003 "without having taken available steps to acquire technology to mitigate the known mine and IED risk to soldiers and Marines."

Even after the war was under way, as the devices began taking a deadly toll and field commanders pressed for vehicles that were better protected from roadside bombs, the Pentagon was slow to act, the report says.

22. Did he visit "Lake bush"?
In Baghdad after years of war and neglect the garbage clogs the ruined sewage system and the streets flow with sewage. He should visit in the Spring when the Cholera is in full bloom.
