Historian faults Bush on terrorism policies
In a speech at Swarthmore College, historian Arthur M. Schlesinger Jr. said that what he saw as the Bush administration's use of patriotism as a way to quell public debate was morally repugnant and undemocratic.

"We have no obligation to bow down before an imperial presidency," he said.

Drip, drip, drip. The BFEE doesn't have enough fingers to plug the dike from the coming deluge. America wakes up.

1. This is the 2nd time he has peeped up recently.
Which is really suprising. Art is known as a 'court' historian. He generally tows the company line, and doesn't color outside the lines very much. He is held in low esteem by revisionist historians, and he holds the likes of Gore Vidal in a sense of contempt.

So it is very suprising to see him take up the sword against a sitting president. I don't think he's ever done it before, it's definitely noteworthy.
