(Canadian) Federal government orders U.S. war resister deported
Source: CBC News

A U.S. war resister who has been in Toronto for two years says the federal government has ordered him to leave the country.

Dean Walcott says Immigration officials have said he must leave Canada by Jan. 6 or face deportation.

He had applied to remain in the country on humanitarian and compassionate grounds but was denied.

Officials ruled he would not face undue risk by going back to the U.S.

Walcott, a former U.S. marine, arrived in Canada in 2006. He had been deployed to Iraq twice. Between the two deployments, he spent time stationed at a U.S military hospital in Germany.

4. I hope he does get to stay
I read over the comments on the link you posted. I didn't know Canada had so many Neocons, but it's good to see what seems to be a liberal majority.

The man signed a contract, yes, he probably had a good idea of what he would face. However... the contract is rendered (in my opinion) null and void due to the fact that it was presented via false advertising and outright lies and distortion. I do not believe he should face any punishment for his decision, as it seems he hasn't hurt anyone and isn't a bad fellow.

Damned neocons... I hope Canada succeeds in getting rid of that idiot Harper. We're finally getting rid of Bush, his lackeys should go with him.

I hope he stays, and I hope Harper has trouble sleeping at night for being such a two faced jackass. Wait until we have Obama in place... then we'll try this again. Fuck Bush, fuck the Neocons and what they represent. This man is innocent, and probably suffering severely from the trauma of what he experienced.
