Proposed Changes to VA Health Facilities

A summary of proposals by the commission appointed to review Veterans Affairs recommendations for health care facilities:

Bedford, Mass: Study building a single center in Boston area for acute and sub-acute patient services, residential rehabilitation and administrative and research support to replace similar services at West Roxbury, Jamaica Plain and Brockton campuses.

Canandaigua, N.Y.: Disagreed with much of VA proposal to close. Recommended long-term care beds, including nursing home, psychiatric and homeless beds, and ambulatory care remain. Proposed developing plan to deal with high overhead, underused buildings.

Montrose, N.Y.: Disagreed with VA proposal to move all inpatient beds to Castle Point, N.Y. Recommended moving psychiatric and nursing home to Castle Point. Leave residential rehabilitation and ambulatory care services at Montrose.

Manhattan/Brooklyn, N.Y.: Agreed to VA proposal to study consolidating inpatient services and keeping outpatient primary and specialty care in Manhattan area.

1. Seems to be a common theme here.
It looks like they WANT to close facilities for vets and they are being told it is a BAD idea... Imagine THAT!

Amazes hell outta me that they are so in love with wars and with the military--but they just can't stomach the idea that they owe the "cannon fodder" anything in the way of loyalty or even honesty. Evidently, they not only don't respect life they don't even respect the men and women who put it on the line for them.

I'll grant you, this is not a new pattern if you stop to consider the fact that the Revolutionary War militia was forced to point guns thru the windows of Congress to get paid for their service--but wouldn't you think they'd have it figured out by now?

GAWD, this country is just terrible in how we treat our military.

This is what we spend on our military defense.



Does one tenth of one percent of 343 billion go into our VA hospitals?
Who has a number?
