Senate GOP Memo Snooping Stirs Uproar (AP)
JESSE J. HOLLAND, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON - Republican snooping through Democrats' tactical memos on President Bush (news - web sites)'s judicial nominees has grown into a full-blown Capitol Hill uproar — with comparisons to Watergate, accusations of court tampering and conservatives attacking senior GOP senators.
<snip>
Somebody needs to be fired," said Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, one of the newest Judiciary Committee Republicans. "Somebody in Washington needs to eventually to lose their jobs, whether it's on weapons of mass destruction or this type of behavior."

1. I can honestly say that this is the first time in a long while
That I have agreed with a Republican Senator. Indeed, someone needs to be fired. Perhaps they should start at the top!

3. Yep- that's why I clipped that sentence!
It's about darn time they came around- they've been screwed by the Executive Branch also (although they certainly are complicit in some things).

4. Think about it in terms of seniority
If he can oust a few of the long-timers, his own standing within the republican caucus increases. That means chairmanships. Control. Power.

It may look different on the outside, but underneath you'll find the same motives at work.

6. Lindsay Graham is an opportunist
Read about any of his interactions with officials and you will quickly see the truth.

Sydney Blumenthal's book The Clinton Wars addresses Sen. Graham's conduct anecdotally.

16. Lindsay Graham does have a very high opinion of himself
I won't ever forget that creep putting Clinton down during the impeachment hearings, coming on holier than thou. It was enough to make a good man sick!

8. Republican Senators must be terrified
Bush* is going to have long coattails and not in the direction they would like. Bush* is going to bring down the lot of them and they are starting to turn on each other in an every man for himself display. The rats are a scurrying.

9. Remember to rate the Yahoo article
Rate the article. I've heard the higher the rating, the more prominence it gets.

10. They are trying to say it is the Democrats fault for making it easy for
them by not blocking access. By that logic it is the National Guard's fault for making it easy for Bush* to go AWOL by not locking him up.

11. that's right
If your neighbor warms up his car before going to work, goes back into the house to get a cup of coffee, you have a perfect right to drive away in his car and sell it.

.... and he thinks that defense will fly? That is total nonsense and he knows it. The ease with which you can commit a crime is never a defense.
