CIA Chief: Bin Laden Alive, Worried About 'Own Security'
Source: ABC News

Hayden Says U.S. Disrupted Plot That Would Have Rivaled 9/11

Osama bin Laden is alive and "putting a lot of energy into his own security," the director of the CIA, General Michael Hayden, said today.

He also claimed, without providing details, that the US intelligence community had disrupted an attack "that would have rivaled the destruction of 9/11." A senior intelligence official said Hayden was referring to the 2006 liquid bomb on airliners plot that was foiled in London.

"American and its friends have taken the fight to the enemy," Gen. Hayden said in a broad roundup of efforts to fight al Qaeda.

"Al Qaeda has suffered serious setbacks, but it is a determined, adaptive enemy unlike any our nation has ever faced," he said.

...

Hayden said the failure to kill or capture bin Laden in the seven years since the 9/11 attacks, could be explained by the "rugged and inaccessible" terrain of the Afghanistan-Pakistan border area and "the fact that bin Laden has worked to avoid detection."

5. It is difficult to believe that he is not findable after this many years.
A 6+ foot dude on dialysis. 25 million dollar reward.

He's dead. Or Bush is a consummate failure beyond description.

16. Indeed "calling on John McCain"
I've been thinking about this since the campaign. In fact, I believe Mr. McCain said "I'll get him, (Bin Laden), I know how"
Well, now is his chance. I believe that when the time comes/ President elect Obama. (Damn I like saying that), should give John a chance, and hire him for this specific job. Then we can see if this was just some empty boast to play on the emotions of the American sheeple, or if he can truly bring the most hated enemy of this country to justice. Personally...I'm very skeptical of any claims made by the repubs, but I'm willing to give him a chance. :sarcasm:  :patriot: :applause:

8. Yep, we know he's alive but we don't know where he is
Well he must not be giving orders by anything higher tech than carrier pidgeon because don't the CIA/NSA have a sattellite and bug up the whole worlds ass by now? We cant get one of this guy's blackberry emails or something? He's been dead for at least three years probably, but they'll find a corpse to pin his name on eventually.

9. So we're winning because he's hiding, we can't find him, and he's worried about dying.
Wow that was easy, we've been winning for seven years now then.

14. Many scientist say plot was not feasable.

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2006/08/17/flying_toilet_terror_labs/

So how effective would the alleged London plane bombers have been, had they actually bothered to buy tickets (which none did) or apply for passports (many didn’t have one), much less get on a plane? How easy is it to inconspicuously mix enough of the materials necessary to blow up a plane?

Thomas C. Greene gets into the science of mixing liquids into explosives, and concludes that you’re at no real risk of liquid bombs in the passenger cabin, unless you see a guy making multiple trips to the lavatory, lugging a chemistry set in with him. Go read the whole thing: It exposes the no-liquids policy as a sham and makes mockery of our present-day security theatrics.

Liquid-bomb threats aren’t even new. As Patrick Smith points out in Salon, the “Oplan Bojinka” plan of 1994 was thwarted, but governments around the world responded with cooler heads, and passengers weren’t required to give up their water. The plot was thwarted with police work (much like the London suspects), not by airport security. (Sit through the ad, and read the whole article.)

15. We're broke and everyone hates us. Bin Laden won.
I think he understood perfectly how the US would react. Just the same as the Russians. The point was to goad us into an incredibly expensive, un-winnable war that would turn most of the world against us.

Bin Laden 2. Western World 0.

19. Have to keep the great WOT funded
They replaced OBL with Al Zarqawi for as long as they could get away with it. How many times was he 'killed' btw before he finally was? We need an enemy, well they do, even a dead one, to keep the money flowing.

It's just not believable that this guy is still alive and untraceable. If they know of a plot he orchestrated, then why haven't they found him?

Sounds like they're resorting to the old fear-mongering again for some reason. Btw, didn't Bush say he wasn't worried about OBL anymore?

worst still, know where he is.

Hopefully, this is not another black op disinformation by Hayden
