Sister of Congressman Kucinich dies

Beth Ann Kucinich, youngest sister of Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-OH), has died.

Ms. Kucinich, an Army veteran, succumbed to acute respiratory distress syndrome at Veteran's Hospital in Cleveland on Tuesday. She had been on life support during her three-week battle.

"Our brother Perry passed away last December. Beth Ann never got over Perry's sudden passing. The two had been inseparable. She talked about Perry constantly and she longed to be with him," said the Congressman.

The Kucinich family will receive visitors as Golubski Funeral Home, 6500 Fullerton Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio on Wednesday, November 12, 4pm to 9pm, and on Thursday from 9:30 to 11:00am, at which time the funeral will begin. Ms. Kucinich will be interred at Cleveland's Calvary Cemetery.

I just finished reading Dennis' book, "The Courage to Survive", where he talks about his family driving around trying to find a place to live that would accept 6 children. His mother was pregnant at the time with baby no. 7 - Beth Ann Kucinich. Dennis was looking in the newspaper and spotted an ad for a house that welcomed children. They got the house and the Teamster's Credit Union gave the family a loan (when no one else would) to buy Beth a bassinette and to pay for her doctor's bills. That family went thru so much. Read the book if you haven't already. What an inspiring story.

i don't know much about his family. Why did his brother die last year and how did she get the respiratory problem...exposure to something? I've lost my two younger siblings already and I am only 50. My younger sister died at age 16 from a hiking accident. My brother, who was younger than her, never got over that and eventually dropped out of school and hit the streets where he died eventually at age 44. He idolized her and never got over it. It's hard but I have three wonderful kids and a great husband and my parents are both still alive (it's harder on them). Are their parents still alive? My condolences to the whole family. It is something that you never really get over.

I was in the hospital for 34 days and still carry the scars in my lungs.

It's a horrible condition and I was very very lucky to survive.

I can literally feel her pain.
