1973 Document Puts Bush on Guard Base

By Mike Allen and Lois Romano
Washington Post Staff Writers
Thursday, February 12, 2004; Page A01

The White House last night released a document showing that President Bush was at a military base in Alabama during the last year of his National Guard service, but aides backed away from his weekend pledge to release all his military records.

Bush's staff provided copies of a one-page record of a dental exam, complete with drawings of the president's teeth, that showed he was at Dannelly Air National Guard base in Montgomery, Ala., on Jan. 6, 1973.

The document is the first definitive evidence that Bush showed up at a base of the Alabama National Guard during a period of about 11 months, from May 1972 to May 1973, for which it was unclear how the president had fulfilled his military service. Earlier this week, the White House released records showing Bush had been paid for days of service during that period, including the date of the dental exam. But the records did not say where Bush had been.

there's pictures of my teeth to prove it.

Kerry has purple hearts and buddies that
love him so much they campaign for him
and AWOL shows us pictures of his molars.

Geez!

3. So he got ..

So he showed up to get a free dental exam, but he didn't attend any of the "meetings".

Besides this, he wasted taxpayer money by training to fly and then LEAVING before he had served.

BFD. "But aides backed away from his weekend pledge to release all his military records." Looking forward to hearing next about his National Guard proctological exam, but it still doesn't prove a damn thing, except that he's got something big to hide.

5. here's an entire calendar showing the dates of bush* effort.....

thanks to DUer LibertyFighter for putting this great graphic together.....

http://www.wischepp.com/AWOLBush.htm

since other paperwork shows shrub back in Texas after the Alabama election....it seems very possible that shrub went back to AL for six days of taxpayer-financed dental work...alcoholics often have serious dental rot, and due to their drunkeness, fail to care for their teeth properly....WE THE PEOPLE pay for the shrub to get free dental care AND give the shrub a PAYCHECK to boot....

time to BOOT BUSH

a real slug....

I would be far too embarrassed to release dental records as proof against an AWOL charge.

7. So the chimp kept a dental appointment and was
paid for it no less. If the Alabama base dentist was good enough for the chimp, why not the doctor? Didn't he claim he missed the physical because his doctor was in Texas? Would love to see McClellan choke on this one.

33. Just think
"slick willy" and then look at the nick again.

Ah, the magic of Clinton's penis: his rabid opponents are convinced it is so potent as a Weapon of Mass Distraction that mere mention will clear the woodwork and vanquish the Liberal foes!

On the other hand, there's the brilliant news editors of CNN today, who quite conservatively cut away from General Clark's speech announcing his formal withdrawal from the Presidential elections, just as he started lambasting Bush, to dive into the Vagina Monologues instead.

And let's not forget the beautiful dissonance of a bunch of rightwingnuts raging about a happy, lone bare breast that momentarily uplifts national TV when it wasn't showing grown-up men prancing around in spandex and chasing a piece of dead cow, while completely missing the vulgarity of horsefarts and beerbelches that flanked the rebel boob.

Penis, vagina, boob, fart and belch: that's pretty much the GOP's quintessential propaganda of its core values and principles.

10. Clinton took his chances and like many of us...
he got damned lucky. He registered for the draft, but got drawn high, just like I did, and did not get called. That is perfectly legal. Supporting links were posted a few days ago here, but I don't have copies of them. Perhaps someone else does. So, to answer your question, there is a hub-bub because Bush got a free pass on service by getting a cush assignment ahead of many others on a long waiting list, and then abandoned his responsibilities simply because he could. Then, on top of all slese, he LIED like the little shit weasel he is.

11. Clinton didn't sell himself
as a swaggering John Wayne "Bring It On" fake warrior who borrowed a flight suit to land on a carrier (which had to be turned so the viewers couldn't see the CA coastline). Clinton lied about sex. Bush lied about the reasons for invading a country. To the world. Clinton had a college deferment. He signed up for the draft when he returned from Oxford. Bush said, while running for governor in the Houston Chronicle, "I've been to war and I've raised twins. And raising twins is tougher." Really, George. What war do you go to? The man is a poser. He's all hat and no cattle. Only the intellectually challenged have been fooled by this dim bulb.

12. Bill Clinton...
did not avoid Vietnam by using daddy's political connections and then later try to capitalize on his "service" record for political gain. I have more respect for people that opposed the war outright than those that try to appear as though they wanted to serve but were never really going to.

14. Well Golly
I'm glad you asked that question. Bill Clinton went through trial-by-fire r.e. Vietnam starting in 92 and continuing until today. He withstood the scrutiny. Now it's Smirk's turn. Do you think he can handle it? I don't.

Clinton didn't want to go, asked for a deferrment, was turned down, and his number never came up.

Bush didn't want to go, got preferential treatment, got in the TX Nat'l Guard in front of 500 other people, thereby assuring that he wouldn't go overseas. And he apparently couldn't stay away from the nose candy long enough to be able to take a freaking physical. To add insult to injury, he's started calling himself a "war president", he's referred to the "lessons he learned in Vietnam", and little Georgie even played dressup and went on a big gray ship, bigger than any he ever had in his bathtub! And he got to say cool stuff like "Bring 'em on!". And lo and behold, they brung, as it were, and they killed a lot of American servicepeople, and they're still killing them, still bringing it. Because Captain President Georgie said so, that's why. Oh, and there's that little detail about the thousands dead, maimed, wounded, ruined all because of one of the most evil lies foisted on the American people and the rest of the world.

Did you have any further questions for which you need answers?

15. How about this reason: Bush was a goddam idiot?
Edited on Thu Feb-12-04 12:02 AM by Enraged_Ape
He didn't have the stuff to take a stand against the war, nor the brains to get a deferment, so he pretended to go along with the whole farce by getting a ridiculously cushy assignment with the TANG flying planes. Then the little monkey skipped out on his obligation to even PRETEND to do that.

I have a hell of a lot more respect for someone who sticks to his moral beliefs about a righteous cause than for someone who pretends to go along with a cause that is wrong, then crawfishes on even that deal.

Your monkey king is lower than gutter slime. You know it. You can't defend him. Enjoy your tombstone.

Welcome to DU.

Helpful hint for the future, though: bringing up Bill Clinton at the drop of a hat isn't going to give you a whole lot of play around here. Not only has he not been "President" for the last three years, but last I heard, he's not running this year either.

18. The context here is Chicken-Hawk;
those who are hawkish on WAR, but take great pains to keep themselves as close to the sidelines as possible. Here's the relevant website of that entire Chicken-Hawk Brigade: http://www.nhgazette.com/cgi-bin/NHGstore.cgi?user_action=list&category=%20NEWS%3B%20Chickenhawks By NO stretch of the imagination could Clinton be included in that bunch.

Dan Quayle would have been in that category, but by all reports, HE DID HIS OBLIGATED TIME. The ongoing question here is did Dubya do his time honestly, or was he AWOL for a significant portion of it?

21. Welcome to DU.
Please recall that Bill Clinton was opposed to the war and wanted no one to fight in it.

George Bush is happily content to let others die in wars he supports.

Remember that little tiny box he checked? The one about NOT wanting to go overseas????? That's our valiant chicken hawk George.

That was one of his 9 service days?

Wow. I'm impressed.

Too bad the dentist couldn't give him his flight physical and transfer him back to Texas, while he was scoping junior's jaws.

26. "dentist couldn't give him his flight physical"
Unlike his WH physician, who doesn't hesitate. This snip is from the AP story by Deb Riechmann, but I must have missed it in some of the papers carrying it. Josh Marshall at TalkingPointsMemo mentions it:

---

The White House obtained the dental record, along with other medical records it did not release, from the Air Reserve Personnel Center in Denver, Colo., McClellan said. The record was accompanied by a statement from Dr. Richard J. Tubb, the president's current physician, who stated that he read Bush's records, which covered a period from 1968 to 1973, and concurred with the doctors' assertion that Bush was "fit" for service.

"The records reflect no disqualifying medical information," Tubb said.

http://www.appeal-democrat.com/articles/2004/02/11/ap/Headlines/d80lejug0.txt

Meaning "no disqualifying cocaine abuse". Seems like the doc is getting a little TOO ahead of the story.
