Martin should have seen sponsorship mess: Copps
OTTAWA (CP) - Sheila Copps says Prime Minister Paul Martin should have known and acted on an explosive Quebec sponsorship scandal long before it grew into a national disgrace.

Copps, the only Liberal MP to criticize Martin on the issue so far, said he was in a position of oversight during the years that the program to promote federalism in Quebec ran out of control.

"Realistically, Treasury Board would have discussed it, and he was the vice-chair of Treasury Board," she said.

Obviously his memorory does not extend to to "Rat Pact" or the GST.

Way to go Shelia.
Every little guy(gal) is behind you.

wouldn't have known. If she claims Martin knew, then she would have too. Copps gets more foolish by the minute.
". Chretien, now Prime Minister, named Copps Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Environment. In a 1996 cabinet shuffle she dropped her Environment portfolio and became Minister of Canadian Heritage."
She held the post of Deputy PM.....Jezz, and the NDP wants her. Can't figure out what she could bring to the party myself. A loyal "to the bitter end", Chretien loyalist. Copps the "in your face" voice of federalism in Quebec, with her flag campaign. Layton may want to re-think this IMO.
