Controversial Malaysian blogger freed
Source: ABC

A court ordered the authorities to free Raja Petra Kamaruddin, Malaysia's best-known opposition blogger, saying there were not sufficient grounds for his arrest.

Raja Petra is a leading light in Malaysia's opposition movement, and for years he has used his website to criticise and to agitate.

The Government used the Internal Security Act, a highly unpopular catch-all law which gives police the power to detain people indefinitely before they have committed any crime.

Raja Petra was accused of inciting racial tension in writings in his blog about Islam.
