"The White House had hoped its release on Tuesday of pay and service records would demonstrate that Bush had met his service obligations.

But those records also showed long absences during his final two years of service -- a period in which Bush worked for some time on a political campaign in Alabama. Democrats and other critics said the records were inadequate."

--snip--

Bush, who was trained as an F-102 pilot, was suspended from flying in 1972 because he did not take a flight physical. He spent part of 1972 working on a political campaign in Alabama and says he performed part of his guard duty there. He was honorably discharged eight months shy of the obligatory six years in October 1973 to attend Harvard Business school.

--snip--

Ha Ha!

and they were relentless in their pursuit
to destroy President Clinton.

"Gutter Tactics"

Notice how the repugs frame all the arguments?
Their billion dollar think tanks must have this
one fresh off their little busy think tank
thought sessions.

Well, if anyone recognizes gutter politics, it's KKKarl Rove.
After all, calling Mccain's Asian adopted child the result of a fling with a black hooker was quite the gutter trick.

I can't wait to see what they have planned for Kerry.

4. Republicans are assholes.
And it started with the republicans. The repuglicans put the "gutter" in politics. But let me ask the WH, why is it gutter politics when the democrats are asking questions regarding bush's guard duty? If they want to know an example of gutter politics, that's impeaching a popular president over lying about oral sex not with his wife. Now THAT is gutter politics, assholes!

What do you have to hide?

That question should be asked of the Bushites in every newspaper letter to the editor every day and on every call in show.

We would not be going into the "gutter" if there were "honor and dignity" in the WH.

edited to add:

Democrats and other critics said the records were inadequate.

Lookie here folks! It's not just "Democrats" anymore - we have now got "other critics"!!!

11. A candidate (or encumbant) makes a certain claim
regarding his past. An opponent says that those claims are untrue and asks for proof. The accused either displays his proof (and shuts up the accusor) or admits that his facts were wrong. How is this "gutter" politics? Bush says he "served" with honor and completed his doody - uh, sorry - duty. The records don't seem to show this and his oppnents want clarification. I just don't see the "gutter" aspect of this. Now, if the Dems were publishing pictures and lurid articles regarding the "murder" committed by Pickles back in the 70's, then that would be "gutter". Or if they started trotting out all of the hookers who had humped Neil with no protection - that would be "gutter", but this? - No way.

being the experts and all.

Let's all forget the Clinton Wars,
the Florida voter scrubbing, the quasi
legal decision that guaranteed the rights
of rich white Republicans over the will
of poor black voters.

Then we need to forget the incestuous relationship
between ObL and GWB. It would also be useful if phrases
like: Old Europe, Axis of Evil, Mushroom Cloud, Personal Responsibility,
Compassionate Conservatism, and terms like Enron, Harken, Halliburton, Unocal, PNAC, PATRIOT, Gitmo, and No child left behind would fall out of our brains.

Because when we remember all that crap, we suddenly remember how we wound up down here in the gutter.

24. Takes one to know one...or is it just projection?
The bush-right wing gutter politics smears that include:

• Willie Horton/Dukakis
• Black child by a hooker/McCain
• Murderess, lesbian lover of Vince Foster, etc etc/Hillary
• Blow job from someone other than his wife/Bill Clinton
• Soft on defense/triple-amputee Max Clelland

The truth:

• Oops, Wille Horton's killings arose from a repig gov's decisions, not Dukakis
• Oops, it was Strom Thurmond who had the illegit black child
• Oops, it was Pickles who killed her old boyfriend
• Oops, it was Gingrich, Hyde and a host of other moralistic impeachers who had all of the affairs
• Oops, as it turns out, ALL repigs are soft on defense. In fact, they're hell-bent on destroying our military and punishing our vets when they get home...if they get home.

29. some thoughts about AWOL-Bush
one of the GOPer talking points about the lack of totality of bush*'s records is that the national guard's record keeping wasn't very good during the time bush* was there...

this brings up a couple two-three questions:

if bush*'s records were incomplete or erroneous due to clerical errors - then how many OTHER Guardsmen's records are likewise screwed up?

are the any guardsmen that served during bush*'s time who have run into problems over the years because their records are likewise screwed up? If so, how did they straighten them out, or were they unable to straighten them out?

Has this problem ever been addressed? Is the record keeping accurate today? As troops come home from Iraq, can they be assured that their records are accurate and complete? How would they know?

the can of worms is deeper than just bush*'s records being 'screwed-up' -- this could effect many many many people

perhaps there should be an investigation just to make sure that record keeping is up to par...
