Mass. Convention to Debate Gay Marriage
BOSTON -- Activists from all sides descended on the Statehouse on the eve of Massachusetts' constitutional convention that includes on its agenda a proposed constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage. The convention opens Wednesday.

Christian conservatives have come, armed with petitions. Children of gay couples also have arrived, pleading their case. And media from around the world have converged, to watch it unfold.

"I've never seen anything like this," said Charles Rasmussen, a spokesman for House Speaker Thomas Finneran. "And I'm told this building has never seen this kind of scrutiny from the national media that anyone can remember."

2. Small crowds
They just showed this on CNN, from the ground and listening to the background noise, it looked like a huge turnout.

The gay-marriage issue has created an unprecedented spectacle at the Statehouse: As many as 4,000 spectators and 300 media members are expected to attend the start of the constitutional convention, and a furious lobbying effort was already under way.

Then they switched to some shots from a helicopter. I don't think that there were more than 200 people milling around. I mean, that's the equivalent of 1 medium sized conservative congregation down here in the south plus one 3rd grade class of adopted children's gay parents. No, the media never hypes anything.

3. Time for Democrats to stand for justice.
It is wrong to support an amendment against marriage equality. This is not about religion or religious ceremonies--this is about equality. Democrats have a choice here. This is not about expediency. They can fight for real equal rights and they can fight for "separate but equal." They can get the real equality.

4. Religious whackos!
Since the 1st century AD they've insisted that the rapture is near!
Wrong!

They insisted the world is flat
Wrong!

They insist the earth is only a few thousand years old and God created every living creature all at once
Wrong!

They claim a pair of every species known to man fit in a tiny ark
No Way!

They insisted that blacks are inferior to whites and that marriage between the races would lead to "mongrelization" of the white race.
Wrong!

They insist marriage is only valid between a man and a woman.
(you know the answer to this one)

Even the Cubs have a better record than this!
