We have said for a long time that Bush's base is 28 percent of the American electorate--high-ranking military people, very hardcore fundamentalist Christians and very rich people. We were absolutely POSITIVE that his base would never desert him.

RIght now, he's lost 28 percent (I divided 100 by 28, then multiplied by eight to get that) of his base.

This election, more than any other I remember, is a referendum on the prior president because of the Republican standardbearer's surgical attachment to Shrub. If they were trying to help McCain get in, the press would have withheld numb-nuts' approval rating until tomorrow.

And on a lighter note...oh, my God, 20 percent is seriously bad.
