National polls tighten a bit; Obama hangs on to lead in battlegrounds

With less than a week till Election Day, any movement in the polls is big news. In the Real Clear Politics national poll average, Barack Obama's 8-point lead from Saturday has decreased to 5.9, due mostly to a gain in John McCain's average.

Three major polls have seen a significant squeeze in the past five days, causing this trend. Today, a Rasmussen poll put Obama at a 3-point lead. McCain has gained 3 points in their survey since Saturday and Obama has lost two, putting the race at the narrowest margin this poll has seen since late September.

This followed the drastic squeeze seen in the Reuters/Zogby/C-SPAN this weekend. After enjoying a 12-point lead in their poll last week, Obama's lead shrunk to around 5 points and held steady there for a few days. ....

There can't be that many idiots in this country. I've probably overestimated the typical American. How sad.

I also don't believe the polls are close because of a much higher black turnout than ever before. I just don't believe it.

In an intelligent crowd, it would be a 40 percent spread. Minimum. 30-70 doesn't even sound good to me. No wonder I find living among these people disgusting. And no wonder I found the bluest of the bluest places in America to live. Phew. It's nice here.

12. I've been awake since 3:30am thinking about this.

It's really bothering me. I moved to a small town in Oregon three years ago. The day I bought my house I realized I had to leave. I waited until the capital gains exemption rule kicked in, and sold ten days later. And I'm back in California. I couldn't believe my eyes and ears. And that was Oregon. They shouldn't be allowed to breed.

I have a close friend who is the ex of Gore's lead recount attorney. I just got an email from her, and she's not exactly convinced that Obama's got it.

Oh well. I guess no one guaranteed that life was going to be fun. I do my best. And I live in a town where people look like actual humans. That's pretty rare.

I guess I'll start my day. It's already 5am.

Man, there aren't many who feel like us. I think it has something to do with being able to see what really is.

I blame consumerism. Corporations did to society what Rove has done to elections. Or it happened before Rove, but he honed it. People were told to stop making stuff and start buying it.

I don't know. But it is nice to know that there are a few out there who are seeing and thinking. I mean, yes, it's negative, but it's actually positive. I see so many people with pleasant and positive attitudes who are really a drag. I'm searching for a higher standard. That doesn't equate to Lexus with 400 horsepower. It's more like a slower, quieter, friendlier community. But I'm not going to get that. I gave a buck to a lady yesterday who was raffling off a pizza or something, for a kid's study center. She is 90. I get so jealous of people who got to see fields. And hear silence. It's not that simple. Being black back then wasn't fun. I guesss I'm turning everything I type into a sociology paper today. I think I'll have one more cup of coffee.

20. Already Stolen according to Spoonamore

Stephen Spoonamore, a leading Republican cyber-security expert, has been saying that the election is already stolen (the plans and means are in place). He predicts McCain-Palin win 51.3% of the popular vote and squeak by with a 3 vote electoral college victory.

In 2004, when George Bush was fumbling through an MTP interview -- his words chopped salad, eyes unfocused everywhere except on the interviewer -- when he was suddenly asked if he thought he could win the election, Bush focused intently on the interviewer and said in bold, perfect English, "I WILL win". I turned to my wife then and said the fix was in. Despite the disaster that GWB had been for the nation up to that point it was clear his people had the plan, the means, the will to steal the Presidency again. And they did.

John McCain had a similar moment on last week's Meet the Press. McSame confidently "guaranteed" election victory. Could the fix be in ... again?

Our only chance to fight off these thefts is for polling for Obama to so widely diverge from McIdiot that Republican operatives would feel too exposed to risk another theft. Instead, as I predicted they would month's ago (to my wife), polls are "tightening" so that there will be both a trajectory and closeness to give plausibility to a "surprise" squeaker victory for McCain next week.

The powers that stand behind Bush/McCain, they don't steal murder and plunder for eight years only to let "democracy" turn off their power/money spigot and expose them to possible investigation and justice. Power concedes nothing without the powerless rising up and demanding it.

However, as a legitimate source of reality-based information, what would you recommend? The Wall Street Journal? Perhaps the New York Times? (Or would it be the Washington Times?)

And, pardon me, but I don't think it is your autocratic say who gets to post here or not. You might want to look at my join date.

I personally think if you aren't wary of another election fraud, then it is you who have a reality-impoverished view of the world. Even Obama is repeating (in his Florida speeches) that MLK-like "power concedes nothing" remark and that we can't let up, we have to fight every step of the way.

The only states where the McCain's poll numbers are increasing are in the dark red states that McCain can't lose and the dark blue states where he still can't win. The electoral vote change is nil or slightly better for Obama than it was a week ago.

Don't know why this story is up today - Rasmussen as of this morning (10/30) shows Obama widening his lead to 51% vs. 46% - a two point gain over this outdated report.
