Almost 1.5 million Ohioans request absentee ballots
Source: Cleveland Plain Dealer

COLUMBUS -- Amid predictions that next week's election could draw among the highest voter turnouts in Ohio history, an unprecedented number of Ohioans have elected to vote absentee.

Nearly 1.5 million voters through Oct. 24 requested an absentee ballot either in person or by mail, according to the Ohio Secretary of State's Office. Voters can still request an absentee ballot from their county board of elections through Saturday and must postmark their ballots by Monday, Nov. 3 or the ballots can be dropped off at the elections office.

"Every day people from across Ohio are expressing their confidence in our bipartisan election system by taking part in the absentee voting process," Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner said in a statement. "We will continue to prepare for anticipated 80 percent voter turnout, ensuring a successful November general election."

In all, there were 1,234,996 requests by mail and 221,368 in person, according to Brunner's office.

12. Thank you Ohio...... I live in such a small town ,a square mile in
size, and lots of machines, and no wait. I don't expect any problem. Next Tuesday, I hope to say Mr. Obama is my president. Real kids in the White House again. And not the adult kind that has been occupying the W.H. for the last eight years.

4. We Buckeyes can also vote early at our local boards of election HQ
I did, last week. I like the way an honest-to-god paper ballot feels in my hand.

14. If people would wake the heck up and do what Oregon did over a decade ago
Vote By Mail Oregon established that over a decade ago and everyone , Republicans, Democrats, Independents, Greens, Everyone Loves it.. Oregon also has one of the highest "turn outs" in America. Think about it. You can vote from your kitchen table without having to stand in any lines or find a parking spot or risk running into that obnoxious person you have been avoiding. You can discuss the people and issues on the ballot and make an informed decision and then let the Postman pick up your ballot. And it is a Paper Ballot at that and can be recounted if the need arises.. Republicans figured this out long long ago and they mail out absentee ballots to almost all of their registered voters. More people vote when it is easy to do so...

8. My husband and I are another two absentee ballot voters
I hand delivered our PAPER ballots to the BOE a week ago. I love voting absentee. Sit down with the ballot, a cup of tea, and take my time. I could even research some questions I had.

No more long waits in the rain for me!

Mrs. WCGreen because she is working the polls for Obama and me because I can't stand to be around all the republicans who dominate my precinct.
