U.S. Governors Make Surprise Baghdad Trip

BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) - Six American governors made a surprise visit to Iraq to take a look at the reconstruction effort Tuesday, talking with Iraqi shop owners about the problems of daily life and greeting American troops.

It was the first visit by governors to Iraq since the American occupation began in April, and it comes as the U.S. military is carrying out a massive rotation of troops - a change that the governors said would bring a large number of reservists and National Guard troops from their states.

1. Anyone know if these guys stay overnight in Iraq?
A few months ago many of the visits were "cameo" in the sense that they stayed in Kuwait and just flew in during daylight hours because of security concerns (Not good if a high ranking US offical is KIA)

9. Too bad he couldn't support Oregon
Those troops will come home eventually to find that Iraq looks like a well-managed place with a dedicated public spirit, compared to our little Mississippi on the West Coast.
