Bush Makes Series of 'Spontaneous' Visits
Even the AP is bashing Bush

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=536&e=4&u=/ap/20040210/ap_on_el_pr/spontaneous_bush

But this election year, Bush has taken a sudden interest in the people and places in between the airport and his speech sites.

Monday marked the fourth time in 2 1/2 weeks in which Bush and the rest of his motorcade pulled over for a "spontaneous" visit with some local citizens

snip

The stops do allow Bush to mingle with ordinary citizens, but they are hardly spontaneous. The Secret Service lays the groundwork days in advance, in cooperation with White House officials. The business owners know the president is coming, though the customers at Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World didn't.

1. If I hadn't been iced in
and unable to travel, I'd have gone up to Springfield just to boo the Chimp. Probably would have been thrown in jail as a terrorist, though.

2. THIS is why the Democratic Primary season needs to last....
We need to keep our non-stop, all Democrats-all the time coverage going for as long as possible. Peggy Noonan, in her review of Bush's MTP interview, made a sarcastic reference to the fac that the Democratic Primary was overshadowing Bush for the past few months, and alluded to it being history soon, so Bush could get out there.

Bush has always been the photo op President. Geez.. I really wish some of these people would overhear him talking about them behind their backs, which you KNOW he does, he's a Kennebunktport Kowboy.. he's not a good ol' boy. He wears kelly green golf shirts and plaid pants...

4. Sure
"The business owners know the president is coming, though the customers at Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World didn't."

I am sure all of the guys walking around with wires in their ears prior to the president's arrival didn't clue them in.
