Elections officials in two local counties have mailed absentee ballots to voters with races missing.
In Polk County, a race was left off some 40,000 absentee ballots.
In Sarasota County, the elections office mailed out ballots to 69 voters in a particular North Port precinct that is split between two Florida House of Representatives districts. A Florida Senate race was left off the ballot. As of Thursday, 40 voters had noticed the mistake and returned their ballots.
Missing from the Sarasota County ballots was the hotly contested Senate race between Democrat Morgan Bentley and Republican Nancy Detert.
Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections Kathy Dent, said the elections office is mailing corrected ballots to the 69 voters. Officials will discard the original ballots and count only the corrected ones.
