Nepal ex-king told to pay bills
Source: BBC

Nepal's former royals must pay unpaid bills of more than $1m within 15 days or power to their homes could be cut off, the state utility company says.

It is a further blow to a family which ruled for centuries before the monarchy was abolished in May.

There was no immediate response from ex-King Gyanendra or his family.

"We have given him 15 days to clear the bills," said a senior official at the NEA, Deepak Prasad Upadhyay, Reuters news agency reports.

3. That's never been cleared up, but many Nepalese think so.
If it weren't for that act, things would have gone very differently. His father was actually thought to be a Maoist sympathizer, and refused to dispatch the army against the rebels. Perhaps peace could have come sooner rather than later.

4. You're thinking of the late King Dipendra
While still the Crown Prince, he gunned down his own family at a royal dinner using a full-auto MP5, then turned the gun on himself. He never regained consciousness and died three days later from the self-inflicted GSW, but during that time he was indeed King of Nepal.
