GOP campaign arm retreats from key races, abandoning Minn. lawmaker after 'anti-American' flap

National Republicans have yanked TV advertising for Minnesota GOP Rep. Michele Bachmann's re-election bid after she suggested Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama may have "anti-American" views and urged an investigation of unpatriotic lawmakers.

Bachmann is one of four at-risk Republican incumbents left to fend for themselves by a cash-strapped House campaign arm in the crucial final days of the campaign amid a tough political environment for the GOP . The National Republican Campaign Committee has also canceled planned TV ads to help GOP Reps. Marilyn Musgrave in Colorado, Tom Feeney in Florida and Joe Knollenberg in Michigan, spokeswoman Karen Hanretty confirmed.

Musgrave, Feeney and Knollenberg are extremely vulnerable and Democrats — who are eyeing double-digit gains in their House majority — have been targeting them heavily. Bachmann, whose district is solidly conservative, has only recently emerged as a prime target after her controversial remarks on MSNBC's "Hardball," which sparked a flood of campaign contributions to her Democratic opponent and have reshaped the race. ...

MN-3 isn't in southern Minnesota. It's in suburbs of Minneapolis.

6. The great thing is El Tinklenberg has done a lot of good here in MN.

With the financing, he is able to get out the word about his track record without the constant smear machine attacking him.

Wish I could say the same for Al Franken. He's a good guy. We would not have any hope of an honest press at all if not for his work getting Air America off the ground even though things didn't go well in all respects and he lost his shirt on it, he showed America there is a market for Liberal Talk Shows.

Michelle Bachman has been nuttier than a fruitcake all along. From global warming gaffes to practically tackling GW for a kiss, she's a freak show.

FYI -- Tinklenberg's new ad just got an A- in the truth rating from ABC.
Everything said about Michelle is TRUE..

BUT in interest of fair disclosure ABC thought since Michelle got over $100,000 from Wall Street and banking institutions AND is running out there saying "hyper-regulation" caused the problem (ie TOO MUCH regulation) BUT El got $12,000 from banking or Wall Street and ISN'T defending them, ABC thinks its still the same...??? Since he got some money they mark it with a minus.

Also they mention a bunch of attack ads forth coming, but the only other ad I've seen talks about El being someone who brings people together and his record of getting things done.
