McCain 'amazed' by Palin treatment
Source: Politico

John McCain called out fellow Republicans who have questioned
running mate Sarah Palin's credentials Tuesday.

"What's their problem?" McCain asked during an interview with
radio host Don Imus.

"She is a governor, the most popular governor in America,"
McCain said. "I think she is the most qualified of any that has
run recently for vice president."

"I'm amazed. I'm amazed. Which is better? Serve 35 years in the
Senate and say you've got to divide Iraq into three different
countries, or be governor of a state and a reformer and give
people their tax dollars back and bring about reform in the way
that your state does business? Which is better?"

Several leading conservatives, including columnists Kathleen
Parker of National Review and David Brooks of the New York
Times, have questioned McCain's judgement in selecting Palin.

Too bad that the end result of his dream would be such evil. After she stabs him in the back, he will turn to her and think of Julius Caesar..."Et Tu, Sarah?"

11. He is not living in a "Country First" reality. In a "McCain First "
reality, this would be a great decision. Every decision of his world would be unquestioned and perfect.

Attention McCain's brain: You are just part of a 300+ million American Democracy. You are on another world and your world is not good for our democracy.

When you return to the Senate remember this lasp of cohesive thought and bad judgment, and vote as if other peoples opinions do matter.

I'm not defending him but I think Palin was shoved up his ass by the neocon powers that be in the puke party and he didn't have the balls to stand up to them. I read somewhere that she has been relentlessly pushed for the VP slot for over a year by of all people William Kristol, you know, that smirking asswipe who's wrong about everyfuckingthing.

19. I disagree
It was his own decision that he made against the wisdom of his operatives to appear like a "maverick." The poor strategists and operatives had to make the best of the lousy hand they were dealt and were making some progress until Katie Couric and the financial meltdown hit.

Lots of amazement to go around here.

16. 894 out of 899 - McCain's academic standing at Naval Academy
I've become convinced that he ACTUALLY BELIEVES SHE IS QUALIFIED because he is as dumb as she is. I mean really, have you ever heard anything out of the mans mouth except slogans and platitudes? In all the debates and over the course of his time in the Senate, have you ever heard him actually perform a critical analysis of anything whatsoever?

He shares more with George Bush than just policy preferences; he is a spoiled son of privilege that has been getting by on being a POW for his entire career.

17. Most Popular Governor in America
Edited on Wed Oct-22-08 02:07 PM by AlbertCat
Who says? No one asked me. I mean "in AMERICA" did they ask the citizens of CA, NC, AR, NM....any other state but Alaska? Just because the remote hunting club that is Alaska... who has the population of a medium sized city... likes her does not make her the MOST popular Governor in the US....just in the remote empty state of Alaska, which is not typical America.

She's a know-nothing religious fruitcake who enjoys murdering and cutting up wild animals. Like I said in another thread, thank whichever god you want she's up there where she can do the least amount of harm to anyone. Keep her there!

P. S. Christ! Am I tired of being talked down to like I was a 3rd grader by Palin! Now we know 3rd graders know more than she! Shut up Sarah, or talk like an adult about adult things. See if you can use 3 syllable words. This VP thing is getting off the porch and running with the big dogs. So far, you haven't even woken up much less gotten off the porch. You were even snoozing while you teenage daughter got knocked up by a stupid redneck who obviously has no respect for her! Sarah...you suck!

26. Fortunately, this isn't junior high school anymore
And "the person you'd like to have a beer with, even if he's a real mean drunk" trope isn't working so good anymore. After eight years of relentless Republican fuck-ups, the American people are a little more taken by competence than comraderie.

20. Someone please explain to McCain that "most popular governor in America" isn't determined by
popularity ratings in a governor's own state. To accurately determine the "most popular governor in America" one would have to have constituents vote from a list of ALL governors, not just take popularity ratings state by state, particularly when someone like Palin hails from a state with fewer constituents than many mid-sized American cities.

To call Palin the "most popular governor in America" based on those criteria is the same type of unsubstantiated nonsense as claiming Palin is a foreign policy expert because she can see Russia from Alaska, or that Palin knows more about energy than anyone in America because there is oil in Alaska.

It's all just ridiculous and indicative of the arrogant, elitist mindset of Republicans who claim an inherent right to rule based on spurious claims of knowledge and inherent ability. Just take a look at the idiot who has led this country to ruin over the past eight years for additional proof.

21. I've got a racist, batshit crazy uncle the same age as John. Between family
and the prospect of a John/Sarah reign, "amazement" is the last adjective I'd use: fearful, horrified, disgusted--all in keeping with the 'dark' side of a Halloween October.

"What's their problem?" I guess the family is just a genetic dysfunctional cesspool; grateful that John and Sarah aren't mine, but I'm feeling the heat of fear and rage, and beyond weary of these homeland battles. I need some respite after Nov. 5.

35. Memo to McCain- Lipstick on a pig does not a silk purse make.
Edited on Wed Oct-22-08 05:03 PM by BeHereNow
John, face it- your VP pick is a homophobic, racist, fascist-evangelical
hate monger, inciting divisiveness between, and violence against fellow citizens.
WHAT on earth were you thinking?

Put the piglet back in her Alaskan trough and go home.
It's the only graceful thing to do at this point.

Not ALL Americans are as ignorant and hateful as you counted on.
We are sick of the faction of mini-hitlers in politics, to which your running mate clearly belongs.
She is a disgrace to the country, and more importantly, you John McCain.

Salvage what is left of your reputation as a Vietnam vet and distance yourself from
the pig- there is not enough lipstick on the planet to disguise her her hateful and destructive nature.
