Colombia's Uribe indicates he thinks Obama will win U.S. presidency
By Associated Press
8:22 PM EDT, October 21, 2008

BOGOTA, Colombia (AP) _ President George W. Bush's staunchest ally in Latin America apparently believes Barack Obama will be the next U.S. president.

At least that's what Colombian President Alvaro Uribe indicated during a public debate with trade union leaders.

Uribe said Monday that he plans to tell Sen. Obama — "when he is president of the United States" — that unions in Colombia face fewer restrictions than the Democratic presidential nominee might think.

Colombia's judicial workers have been on strike for 50 days.

Obama cites violence against unionists — 31 have been killed so far this year — in opposing a free trade agreement with Colombia.

1. I'm sure that President Obama will be open to dialogue on this issue.
Obama is a smart man and he will be willing to listen to what the Colombian President has to say and he will make informed decisions about our international relationships.

You can trust Obama.

Can you trust McCain or Palin? No way!

2 men killed in Colombia protests

From Karl Penhaul

VILLARICA, Colombia (CNN) -- Two men were shot to death Tuesday in a clash with riot police amid a burgeoning Indian protest in southwestern Colombia.

The men were shot in the head and back as they sought to join thousands of Indians marching on Colombia's second-largest city, Cali.

Other demonstrators said government security forces fired on the men, but Colombian authorities denied the allegation. Police claim protesters attacked them with homemade explosives.

Tuesday's violence stirred resentment among Indians.

"We went out there today to reject the government, and they open fire on us," one protester said.

3. Uribe is THE key fascist that Neocons will use to stage false flags vs Obama
Obama's first crisis, alluded to by Biden, will be Obama's "Bay Of Pigs" -- a false flag operation likely killing Americans or staging WMD in Venezuela or near the border, for the purposes of dividing Obama and Chavez.

The greatest danger faced by International Fascism is any blossoming partnership between the Latin "Left" and Obama.

This potential for good must be destroyed by Neocons. As shown in the so-called "Hostage Rescue" theatrical operation of July 2008, for which candidate McCain was "coincidentally" visiting Uribe in Colombia, the Neocons know who their fascist ally is.

Uribe is an ultra-fascist who has Right-Wing paramilitary Death Squads and mass graves. Chavez doesn't.

But this fact will be turned upside-down in 2009. Some small town in Venezuela, comprised of Chavez opponents and a handful of Americans, will be exterminated, or "FARC" will be discovered nearby, and Obama will be required to side against Chavez.

Uribe: Colombian police fired on protesters

BOGOTA, Colombia (CNN) -- Colombian President Alvaro Uribe admitted Wednesday that police fired on Indian demonstrators despite a government pledge that security forces would not do so

Uribe had earlier denied accusations that security forces fired at demonstrators during protests by thousands of Indians.

"The police did fire," Uribe said at a news conference Wednesday.

He made his remarks after CNN obtained and aired a videotape that shows police at La Maria Indian reservation.

The video shows a man in an olive green uniform and ski mask raise an M-16 assault rifle, standard issue for some Colombian police units, and fire three shots, though the target is unclear.

I worry when I see all these videos on international TV that don't show that this country has respected diversity," he said. "The government respects social protest. What the government doesn't tolerate is violence."

Court overturns conviction in 1989 assassination of Colombian presidential candidate
By CARLOS GONZALEZ | Associated Press Writer
11:01 PM EDT, October 22, 2008

BOGOTA, Colombia (AP) _ A court on Wednesday overturned the conviction of a former Colombian justice minister accused of masterminding the 1989 assassination of presidential candidate and anti-drug cartel crusader Luis Carlos Galan.

The tribunal found there was insufficient evidence to convict Alberto Santofimio and ordered that he be set free, said Jesael Giraldo, spokesman for the Cundinamarca state court. It was not clear when Santofimio would be released from prison.

~snip~
The court convicted Santofimio of ordering a hit squad under the command of drug kingpin Pablo Escobar to kill Galan — both to boost his own candidacy and prevent Escobar's extradition to the United States.

Santofimio was running for the Liberal Party nomination against Galan, whose charisma and perceived moral rectitude drew comparisons to the late U.S. President John F. Kennedy. Escobar and members of his Medellin cartel feared Galan's victory would mean their extradition to the United States.

Galan, who was shot and killed while campaigning south of Bogota, was so far ahead in the polls for the 1990 presidential elections that he was virtually assured of victory. His campaign manager, Cesar Gaviria, ran in his place after the attack and was elected president.
