October 21, 2008 - National General Election Ballot
Source: ARG

"While Barack Obama holds a 4 point lead nationally, Obama now leads in 28 states with a total of 353 electoral votes and John McCain leads in 23 states with a total of 185 electoral votes. Two states are trending to Obama, which would give Obama a 369 to 169 electoral-vote lead over McCain.

Approximately 72% of Obama's national ballot share of 49% comes from states where Obama leads. Approximately 39% of McCain's national ballot share of 45% comes from states where McCain leads."

4. Do people not read the Constitution?! I know Bush says its just a piece of paper....
But Democrats should READ IT.

23rd Amendment

Section 1. The District constituting the seat of Government of the United States shall appoint in such manner as the Congress may direct:

A number of electors of President and Vice President equal to the whole number of Senators and Representatives in Congress to which the District would be entitled if it were a State, but in no event more than the least populous State; they shall be in addition to those appointed by the States, but they shall be considered, for the purposes of the election of President and Vice President, to be electors appointed by a State; and they shall meet in the District and perform such duties as provided by the twelfth article of amendment.

Section 2. The Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.

6. MOST people DO NOT read the Constitution.

And if they were to do so, many would be confused by the language of this Amendment.

5. Residents of DC DO VOTE for President.
We have a NON-VOTING member of Congress, has been Eleanor Holmes Norton for some time. Our member participates in debates but has no vote within Congress, AND we have no Senator.

Your question is not stupid; the arrangement IS ABSURD!
