Arizona Dems say GOP credit card found in office
Source: SignonSanDiego.com

PHOENIX – Democrats working to unseat U.S. Rep. John Shadegg wondered whether political dirty tricks were afoot: A business credit card belonging to the incumbent's re-election campaign was found on the floor of a Democratic field office in Tempe.

Arizona Democratic Party officials on Monday publicly demanded an explanation from Shadegg's campaign – and that it return anything taken from the office.
The explanation that finally emerged left Ryan Anderson, a Shadegg campaign volunteer, admitting that he felt foolish.

Anderson said he was running errands Sunday when he noticed the Democratic office in Tempe and went inside in hopes of getting a Barack Obama sticker for his collection of political memorabilia. He said he must have dropped the credit card when he pulled dollar bills out of a pocket to pay for the sticker.

Only later, at a grocery store where he was to buy bottled water and snacks for the Shadegg campaign's call center, did he realize the card was missing, Anderson said. “Of course I panicked.”

Stay tuned for more, as there's yet another Shadegg scandal brewing, and this one has some very juicy potential:

Anyway, given all of the dumb mistakes and the blatant disregard for campaign rules (written and unwritten), is it any surprise that the Shadegg campaign has retained the K Street law firm of Sidley Austin, or that one of the firm's partners is Thomas Green, one of the people who defended the Republican "plumbers" of Watergate break-in fame? According to campaign finance records, they spent nearly $12K with Sidley Austin in just the month and a half from August 14 to September 30. (page 100 and 101 of this .pdf from the FEC)
