TWINSBURG, Ohio -- Layoffs are anticipated at the Twinsburg Chrysler stamping plant because of plant shutdowns elsewhere in the country.

Local United Auto Workers officials said they expect about 250 cuts at the Twinsburg plant, about 20 percent of the plant's work force.

The UAW said the layoffs are expected to last through Christmas, maybe longer.

The stamping plant makes the doors for Chrysler minivan, once one of the automaker's most popular vehicles, but because of the economy, sales are slumping.

1. It was bad in the '80's when the steel plants shut down.
I've haven't seen so many layoffs since Reagan. :( We need you, President Obama!

2. The GM deal will most likely cause massive layoffs.
All the fault is at the top, but they will all walk with millions. It is hard being a human at times.

4. Domestic automakers suffer because of a union-bashing campaign
where union autoworkers are mislabeled as producing poor product.

And the reason that sales are falling is because the global market for autos is falling. Nobody "at the top" caused that to happen.

And what millions? Chrysler is owned by an investment company, Cerberus. Cerberus is not going to cheat itself.
